My wife and I are looking to get away for a long weekend in the middle of October and are trying to come up with ideas. I’m looking for any recommendations on places for a 3-4 day weekend trip (within the US) that you’ve been on and enjoyed.

What do you like to do? If you like nature, Wisconsin and northern Minnesota would be nice with the leaves. If you like to hike, hit up Colorado or Arkansas, be cooler now so when you sweat, you won't get too wet. Can always go BBQ hunting in KC or Memphis and hit up historical places. Smokey Mountains will be slower (most visited national park in the US) so that will be nice.

My wife and I do Clearwater, Tampa, saint pete area of Florida. Great beaches, seafood, and all around “easy”. Looking forward to our early nov trip, 4th straight year.

Allegiant used to have a great early am Friday flight with a late day return Monday but now Friday departure is late afternoon. so we had to pay more this year and do multiple airlines to arrive early Friday and leave later Monday.

3-4 days I'd do something localish so you get more time relaxing.

Stillwater Minnesota is a good time, if you're looking to stay in the midwest. A nice little pedestrian area with shopping, restaurants, bars, etc. Plenty of hotels or bed and breakfasts if that's your thing. We stayed at the Rivertown Inn, and it was very, very nice.

Agreed, that downtown is awesome. And just across the river in Hudson is one of my favorite restaurants, San Pedro Cafe.

It absolutely isn't for everyone and I get that.
We're going to try to do a Lake Havasu trip this winter or next. Fly into Vegas and drive down. There are some really nice looking VRBOs from what I've seen.

Baraboo, WI. Some awesome restaurants, plenty of quiet time to "relax". Devil's Lake State Park is probably one of the most scenic places in the country in October.
