***Week 9 CFB Game Thread (10/30)***

Not even surprised, but the fact Iowa is still in the top-20 and Penn State is still ranked after dropping 3 straight is hilarious.

Edit: Not that it matters since the first CFP rankings are this week and that’s what matters.

All of our losses so far this year have been to the “new Big 12” conference members. Not sure we’d even be in the top tier of the new Big 12 either.

What's it like being down on Iowa State all the time?

Well, of course this mess of a new Big 12 is the best option. But I don't think it is a good option.

You think the national media is suddenly going to respect Cincinnati once they are in the Big 12? Of course not, they will say the same **** that they do now.

The point of this new league is that you can’t ignore a 13-0 or 12-1 team with a top 25 SOS. You can ignore the American teams now because they’re SOS is 75+

The Alliance is pushing for the new Big 12 to get an auto bid anyway.

They'll ignore it. That's the ******* point. If Cinncinati goes 9-3 in the new Big 12, no one is going to talk about them. Look at the rankings today. Penn State has lost 3 games and is still top 20. We've lost 3 games and we are out.

Why do we think everyone will be fair to the new Big 12? Do we have any sort of evidence of that? Of course not.

My prediction is we will get an auto bid for a few years before they drop us because the new Big 12 'isn't any good'. What incentive will the other 4 conference and ESPN have to keep the Big 12 relevant? None. And Amazon won't give a ****.

Think about this---if the PAC 12 lost USC and Oregon, we'd all be saying they don't deserve any sort of auto bid. And the PAC 12 adding Baylor and Kansas State, for example, wouldn't change that.

USC sucks and Oregon is meh at best. They're nowhere near comparable to say, Okie State and Baylor are this year. That's before talking about ANYONE else in the conference that would be left over. You're comparing apples to oranges and assuming that everything will be a death spiral of things going from bad to worse. I doubt we'll get as much respect as before, but I would still say an 11-1 Big 12 team will still be up there with 11-1 Pac-12s or 11-1 ACC teams.

…why would anyone pay attention to a 9-3 team… from any league? Lol

And PSU is ranked still because they have better losses.

Does Penn State have “better losses”? Both lost to Iowa. We lost at Baylor (top15) and they lost at Ohio State (top 10). They lost to a bad Illinois team and we lost at a mediocre WVU team. Looks like a push at best between ISU and Penn State. One difference is Penn State has lost 3 straight whereas we lost one.

For the record neither Penn State or ISU should be ranked.

Reading some of the coverage of the Iowa game, you'd think that they lost by 7 rather than 20. Howe is talking about how great the defense was. Even Hlas was lauding the defense. I assume the Register is the same way.

So the team leading the BIG West, Minnesota, isn’t ranked yet Iowa and Penn State (yes I know they are in the East) are? Interesting.

Gophers won at Purdue, that team that embarrassed Iowa in Kinnick just a couple of weeks ago. The loss to Bowling Green hurts for sure, but they played Ohio State as good as anyone before their star RB went down. They still kept it close after that too.

Bama jumped OU without playing while OU finally put a team on ice early and Tech at least has won a few games.

They need to keep Penn State ranked to help tOSU over the next month.

Not saying the CFP committee will do a good job but come Tuesday Night the AP Poll is pretty much worthless. Only Top 25 Ranking that will matter is the CFP one.
