Ok...I worked inside all day and come home and the entire south side shingles on my garage are turned up and asphalt mineral all over my driveway. Did we get high winds and rain today? Did anyone else have any damage like this?

thanks

Had a funnel cloud come down two houses down from mine monday night (4 min left in the game - Direct TV is still out) and woke up tuesday night with the attached in my back yard. My fences were knocked down, which are making my 2 German Short Hairs ****** they can't be outside to run around. Also had a tree that fell on my roof (luckily no damage - just had to get it off). Bunch of my neighbors lost chunks of their roof.

I do feel extremely lucky, it looked like a war zone and no one was hurt in the neighborhood.

not to be picky but there have been no tornadoes in Hiawatha or anywhere in the state for that matter...all damage has been from straight line winds.

yeah I havent heard of any actual tornadoes yet either but it looks like we had plenty of rotation and some lowering over by/north of Cedar Rapids last night.....all the damage in the Grinnell area was from some pretty intense straight line winds I heard

I had to watch it on radar and listen to what police and fire department were saying on the scanner but it had a very well defined hook as it passed through the palo and alburnett area before wrapping itself back up. My dad was out spotting and I tried to get him in good position but he said everything looked like it was rotating.

Yeah...our house faces Alburnett off of 29th. Our whole neighborhood was standing outside watching the thing move towards us. There was most definitely a funnel that was rotating. It eventually dissipated and just moved on. I'll post the picture in a second.

My daughter's car in Cedar falls got pounded by hail, knocking the windshield out.

If I know where your taking the picture from right that is looking north, which is right where my dad ended up right in between county home road and alburnett on alburnett road. Great picture!

It was not a tornado but a funnel cloud. A number of people said they saw it as it was going by my neighbors house - maybe they were all lying? Again this was monday night, not wednesday.

If there were straight line winds i expect more than a 10 house cluster in a large neighborhood to have damage. You go a half a block north or south and there was not even a branch down, but in a small cluster of homes you have missing roofs and (2) 1000 lbs + playsets thrown into other people's yards.
