Then Barco would get the payments. Things changed since I was at the dealership then (which was a few years ago so very likely) but any vehicle that wasn’t considered a sale had a prep payment made. You have to inspect them off the truck and then Make sure everything was correct (oil level/tire pressure type stuff, wash it, and some needed to have the plastic wrap pulled off them.
You are correct there, however in the event of using a leasing company, there is nothing that goes to a dealership. I only know this because when i worked for a large dealer group in des moines, one of the employee benefits was a Barco truck lease.

If it is a regular lease through an Ally/GM/CCAP, then the Collective becomes the lessee and purchases through a dealer. At that point the dealership would receive the prep money

When we leased cars through any of ours, there was always a place it had to drop and no matter where it dropped (we had 3,000/year that we never saw but went directly to the end user) and the owner told me he just had a person fill out paperwork because he got paid for them no matter where they got dropped off because every vehicle had to go through a dealership. He had all US brands.

People always asked how his dealerships could stay afloat but when I found out that he had 4-5k drop ships at 250/piece, it was obvious he had sales/service/parts so he could keep the drop ships going.

I even delivered one for the price is right. Owner stiffed me on that one, did all the work but no pay. Had others for Chrysler and ford leasing that were the same way.
