WBB recruiting-Iowa

Bluder has outrecruited BF... plain and simple. They will have more talent than ISU.

The question will be whether or not BF can outcoach Bluder enough for ISU to be better?

What is not in question is which team will have better attendance? Iowa's WBB will NEVER approach ISU in that area IMO. I don't know any Iowa fan that cares 2 cents about WBB. The place is empty. If I were a good high school women's basketball player, I'd much rather play in Hilton.

More talent? I think that is questionable. Is there incoming class good, yes, that's one year class. But, I don't think ours is "bad." Yes we are all stinging from the loss of Greenfield, but we must move on. We have three solid players who fit our system well. Maybe there's a get still waiting to happen. Some times fit is more important than "talent." Let's not forget how much talent we have on our existing team. If we continue to get Texas recruits, our consistency in recruiting will only get better.

I don't think Bludder out recruited BF. I think her players out recruited ours. The coaches can only do so much, these days player chemistry, texting, and recruit/player friendships is the make or break.

RE: Kiah Stokes. Worth a look/read.

Thought the article says only one scholly, word from Knoxville is there will be 2 available if need be, and that a EW or IH commitment won't hurt their chances with Stokes nor eliminate her chances for a scholly.

TN loses 4 posts in 2012, so Kiah will have a chance to play early on, not many get that chance at TN.

Andraya Carter is stoked about Kiah Stokes GoVolsXtra

Stokes enjoys visit to Tennessee::Eastern Iowa High School Sports

"I love Pat Summit, she is great on and off the court."

Thanks for the links, TWB.

Don't forget that Iowa also has quite a bit of talent already on the team as well.

I just think that we seem to be slipping a bit while Iowa is taking big leaps forward. I don't like the trend.

Iowa has had some great talent but unfortunately, I don't think, they ever reach their potential. They come in highly regarded but what do they do with it. Also, for some reason, they always have a lot of injuries that cut careers short, I think.

Our recruiting class is not complete yet, we are still waiting on some key recruits.

Its plain and simple. Iowa fans will support winners and winners only. They had very good crowds for BB when C. Viv. was there. Wrestling only started to really draw when Gable got it going. As a kid (I'm dating myself here), I walked up and bought decent tickets an hour before kick-off to see Archie Griffin play in Kinnick. At ISU you give us any kind of hope and we'll be there.

Let's see how things shake out. Despite the 4 defections which were of questionable talent of the 2008 class, the 2009 and 2010 classes were solid, and 2011 is solid, and I have hope for one more quality get. I'm guessing that the 4 defections are being used against BF right now, but with another solid season and tourney appearance, that will be a distance memory.

I'm less concerned about how we do against Iowa then against other Big 12 schools. When we are getting recruits that have offers from other Big 12 schools to pick us, that tells me we are doing good. Yes, it would be nice to see Iowa talent come to ISU, but the reality is a lot more kids grow up Hawk fans than ISU fans.

My feeling is Moody will be a better point guard with BF as her coach, than Logic with Bludder.

The pack that the hawkeyes made with the devil only covers football. I am not worried about their WBB team.

Apparently you haven't been to Jack Trice yet this year (even against top ten Utah).

You were apparently not at Hilton last year when the stadium was half-empty for the majority of the season.

Or at Hilton for the WBB years before Fenely (when there were more managers than fans).

Gimme a break.

Guys, here are the facts:

None of the players that have committed to Iowa has a scholarship offer from ISU. If Stokes commits – that would be the first and only one.

Virginia Johnson was never recruited to Iowa State. Christofferson is in the grade above her (2010). Poppens, Prins and Zimmerman were in the previous year's class (2009), so she wasn't a priority.

Logic took an unofficial visit to Iowa State as a junior and decided she wanted to play in the Big Ten and closer to home. At that point, Iowa State had not offered as they still had a lot of guards. Logic blew up this summer, and she had already narrowed her list. It never got to the point where she got an offer from ISU.

Doolittle is a complete throw-in. She never got the offers that people thought she should get. I believe Wisconsin offered and Iowa, that's it. Northwestern pulled an offer on her after they got Alex Cohen.

Dixon is a walk-on from Illinois and the other kid I got no clue who it is.

If they get Stokes, then that is a good get, but Stokes is a kid who seems to have leveled out. Once, she was the #9 player in the country, she is now #42. Stokes made the U17 USA team, won a gold medal and did not make that exact same team the next year. Not saying she is not a great player, and ISU would love to have her, just providing facts. She visited Uconn, Tenn, Maryland, Georgia and Iowa.

Iowa State has 3 commits for next year. Still waiting on Emily Cady. That may or may not be it for 2011. Rumor is 1-2 more kids are still out there that have strong interest in Iowa State. If they visit, I will provide more information. I don't expect ISU to only have 3 commits by the time it is all said and done. It could be as high as 5-6.

I'm not sure what would give you that idea. More talent? No. Black and White No. Nice guard court, but nothing better than what we have in our young court. Post players. They can't even approach the players we have on our team. Not even close there. Forwards? I'll stick with what we have in Bolt and Slash. Keep in mind that their "star" guard is from Ames and Bill passed on her. He obviously felt other players were a better fit or that his cupboard (prior to last year's dropout) was full enough. I think he's brought in some pretty good talent to refill that cupboard.

I don't disagree with the rest of your post, but Nesbitt was a role player that only started one game last season. They return Alexander (16.0 ppg), Printy (14.7 ppg) and Wahlin (14.2 ppg) at guard. You might be confusing Printy and Nesbitt (both were freshmen last season).

You are dead on there...I did confuse the two and realized it after I posted. I would suggest that their numbers wouldn't be what they are if they actually had a post presence. Solid guard play, but nothing that rattles my cage at all.

Just heard Coach Bluder say she will be making her decision on the 7th.

She did say by Nov 8th last week.

Be interesting to see if she or Williams jumps first. Williams is tight with a couple TN recruits, though I have heard they have been communicating with Stokes too. Harrison's commitment confuses things a little.
