WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

I can’t root for Iowa. But CC is definitely amazing. Like it or not she is helluva player!

I asked fellow CFers : would they want CC on the team last time and they said no….. would the answer still be the same now that CC takes EIU to the final four?
I never said no - yes all the way.
Best player - maybe ever.

I gained a lot of respect for CC listening to her postgame remarks after the Iowa-ISU game last fall. She was very complimentary of the Cyclones and talked about how great wbb is in the state. She showboats a little bit, but there's nothing wrong with a little showmanship.

People here told me Joens was better than Clark. If they were building a team they would pick Ashley over Caitlyn.

Not trying to start a pissing match but cmon people. Take off the Cyclone glasses sometimes and don’t be so stubborn.

Amazing game by Clark.

I've watched several games and I'm starting to like her better. I still don't like the whining at every single call on her but wow, best player I've ever seen. Her passes are unbelievable.

I hate it, but I think the sqawks will win it all. It’s amazing that they never seem to have a bad shooting night

They can win it all. Clark is that good.
SC is great on defense, so/so on offense.

We will get crushed the next two years.
In state recruiting may be at a crossroads leaning far to Iowa? Should be interesting

Has anyone on here watched South Carolina? Can Maryland beat them because the Hawkeyes keep seeming to get breaks with lower seeds having upsets? I haven't ever watched them play, didn't even watch championship last year, but hear they are unbelievable. Should be a good game on Friday, even if Maryland wins tonight!

South Carolina is favored by 15 points over Maryland. Maryland beat Iowa by like 25-30 points a couple weeks ago. Maybe Iowa will win it all but they haven't seen a team as athletic as South Carolina.

South Carolina beat Maryland in November 81-56.

The most points South Carolina has given up all year is 77 on the road at UCONN. Their defense is allowing 50 points per game. They are giving up 42ppg in the tourney. South Carolina is a great rebounding team, second in the country in offensive rebounds, so Iowa will have to keep them off the offensive glass, and they lead the country in blocked shots per game.

They have a lot of size in their starting lineup and off the bench.
Starters - 6'1, 6'5, and 6'2
Off the bench - 6'7, 6'0, 6'4

Guards are either 5'8 or 5'9

Iowa will win if they make 16 3's like they did against Louisville.

Yes - iowa has not seen a defense like SC all year. They are really good. It will be interesting to see how they defend Clark.
She is such a great passer she is hard to double. I do not think iowa will get much of anything inside - bombs away.

I think there is a magic number for iowa, I do not know what it is, but if Clark gets 30+ I think they win. Maybe 25.

I think her SWAG is great!

Lately this hasn’t been true.

It's been sort of a push if you discount Clark being a homerun to deep deep center. Sticking to in-state players with ranked profiles in the last five years:

2019 - ISU got Maggie Espenmiller-McGraw.
2020 - Iowa got Clark and ISU got Aubrey Joens.
2021 - Nobody for either cause nobody worth signing?
2022 - Iowa got Hannah Stuelke 2022.
2023 - ISU got Crooks 2023, Sooners got Sahara Williams.
2024 - Iowa has a commit from Callie Levin and ISU has Aili Tanke, both unranked.

2024 will be won or lost outside of the state. Hawks have an ESPN ranked 6'-4" post from California committed.

We claimed to have won the overall recruiting in 2020 but that didn't turn out to be true except on paper when judged right now.

2023 we also got Kelsey Joens. Prospects Nation has her at #65. Jackson is Top 150 in the same metrics.

Well it's not like she was going to say "Yeah they suck".

Generic interview speak.
Maybe. But she didn't just say the cliche "ISU is a tough opponent. We have a lot of respect for them." She went more into it, talking about high school girls bball, Drake, and UNI and how the competition has made all D-1 programs better.

At least that's how I remember it.
