I attended a Regional Final game last night and witnessed Natalie Ramsey of Liberty High (North Liberty) throw down an impressive 40 points in a victory over City High. She's presently committed to South Dakota and is coached by former Hawkeye Jamie Printy. She's 6' tall and scores from all three levels - I like to see the local kids get a look.

This post just about made me fall out of my chair. Her mom is Kate (Hanneman) Ramsey, a former CP-U basketball standout who played at UNI until injuries cut her career short.

Kate is also my wife's cousin, making Natalie my wife's first cousin once removed. The family basketball ability did NOT come from my wife's side of Kate's family.

I knew some of my wife's cousins' kids played sports, but I had no idea any were standouts. Since we don't live in Iowa, we haven't seen them in a while and I don't really pay attention to Iowa GBB outside of players ISU is recruiting.

Small world! Upon arriving home last night, I told my wife about the Liberty High star and how she was committed to South Dakota. I was surprised she wasn't generating any interest from EIU given the proximity and Printy connection, then said, "she's the kind of kid who stars at UNI and takes it out on ISU for passing!" I'd guess her performance last night will make Tonya Warren sit up and take notice - heck, I think Bill should take a look!

Fun connection to your family - now you'll have reason to pay attention to the Girls State Basketball Tournament (and her Senior season).

Updated both sets of rankings.

Also, I removed the levels -- as I mentioned in the 2025 thread, they aren't accurate anymore so I'm just removing them entirely.

One thing I learned today:

As the table in the first post states, Nation Williams lives in Nevada. Specifically, she lives in Las Vegas.

Why does she live there? Because her mom is Natalie Williams: WBB hall-of-famer, GM of the Las Vegas Aces from 2022-2024, and, most importantly, 2000 Utah Starzz teammate of Stacy Frese.

Side note: the Starzz and Aces are the same franchise. Utah Starzz -> San Antonio Silver Stars -> San Antonio Stars -> Las Vegas Aces.
