***WBB: 2026 Recruiting Thread***

Mya Babbitt: 5'8" G from Papillion, NE, Millard South H.S. Leaves Kent State with one year left. For 2025-'25 season averaged in 30 games 16 ppg, 2 assists, 4 total rbs, 3p at 27%, and 90% ft.

Not highly ranked or recruited, Mya may be a get for the Cyclones. "Local" player, with skills and drive and just needs a place to fit in. Don't know why she wouldn't feel at home in Ames. Dad is a AAU coach. She is used to playing before less than 500 fans at Kent St.

Scored 42 points in the home game in H.S. With 10 three-pointers made, she not only broke the school record for points scored in a single game, but also tied the Class A record for the amount of 3s made in a game.

I have a good feeling we land her.

Not saying her game wouldn’t translate, but the ***** and moan crowd on here have lambasted our squads for being too short. I sure wouldn’t mind seeing a Rory Harmon type energizer though.
We miss a player with that “snarl” to go with their game. Lyndsey Medders (Fennelly) certainly had it. Lindsey Wilson for sure too.
But that was a long time ago…

Reggi Spotts: 5'8" Guard NIACC (juco) 2 seasons remaining. H.S. played for Mason City, home in Nora Springs. At NIACC in 32 games averaged 18 points, 40 FG%, 35 3PT%, 81 FT%, 4 REBs, and 3 assists. Played AAU with Martin Brothers, Cedar Falls.

Spotts made Iowa Class 4A third team all-state after averaging 18 points, five rebounds and four assists for a regional finalist. The Riverhawks were ranked No. 5 and Spotts was the only player on the team averaging double figures at 14.3 per game, going over 1,000 points for her career.

Maybe Spotts deserved better than landing at NIAAC where she excelled. Against B12 talent she may hold her own but likely be challenged. At NIACC she was a double-double machine with nine total and a high of 29 points in a game. Spotts has earned NJCAA Division II first-team all-American honors.

Sofia Gregory of Youngstown State is an interesting prospect. I watched quite a bit of Horizon League while tracking Izzy Zingaro and she’s a ball magnet. We have five guards so the front court requires attention. With the position we’re in, grabbing youngsters who want to prove they can play at a higher level is smart business.

Ilse de Vries: 6'3" F with 2 seasons remaining transfer out of Miami of Ohio, home is Groningen, Netherlands. As per usual with Euro players, saw international competition via FIBA. Teammate of other player interest Tamar Singer.

Scoring 12 ppg, 5 rebs, nearly 50% fgs.

Ilse runs the floor well, can score at different levels, but best close to basket, and fairly proficient 3-point threat. Had 25 points against Western Michigan. For Iowa State maybe reminiscent of Hallie Christofferson (though I may be disabused of that notion once at ISU). Takes pride in her play,, sturdy build yet lanky, could work on shot blocking, effective in transition scoring.

With emphasis, and desperation, for size and frontcourt players de Vries would be worth the money even if other candidates are available. Priority player to get for me unaware of what's going on behind the scene.
I’ll join you in pulling for her. My mother’s family emigrated to the US in the 1880’s from a small village 15 km from Groningen. We were in the Netherlands last fall but didn’t day trip the 2 hours to the NE. The Netherlands is a pretty country and I like the influx of European players!

As for proximity Freya may be an in though Danish and Dutch languages are distinct they share Germanic roots. English would work best here.
