***WBB: 2025 Recruiting Thread***

I don't want to over hype, but it seems obvious to me that Reese is for real. What a great catch for the Cyclones.

A point guard who is a shot and discus state champ, are you kidding me? I love it! Having two shot/discus state champs on the floor at the same time (Audi in the front court and Reese in the back court) would really be something, especially since Fennelly's teams have historically been big on finesse and not so big on physicality.

You can see the strength in her shoulders and legs, the type of natural strength that will immediately allow her to transition to D1 level.

Remember how frustrated we always get when physical teams seem to beat up our players as they're trying to bring the ball up the court? Well I doubt anyone will be beating up this young lady.

I'll be shocked if she isn't ISU's starting point guard from day 1.

Never say never, but I doubt she'll start from day one. Ariana Jackson has been groomed for the position and shown herself capable of initiating offense and playing strong defense. When Reagan Wilson's signing was announced CBF called her a "pure point guard capable of doing everything we want at the position.", plus she ran the 400 on her HS track team. We haven't seen her play yet, but she looks like an athlete. In any case, we're not lacking for guards capable of handling the ball on this squad.

You couldn't really get a feel for Reese's "quickness" in those clips. The Big XII is full of sudden PG's and I wonder if Reese will be able to stay in front of them. To be determined...

Defense was my first thought too. She's wide tho and will be hard to get around if she has decent lateral quickness.

I think Ariana is more suited to the off guard position and can spell the PG when needed.

Yeah, each class can't have "the next great Cyclone PG" in it but that seems to be stated for each class. Unless they are like a top 50 recruits with a consensus ranking or something, the hype from the schools is just that, hype. We'll see the "what" when they actually suit up for games someday.

I LOVE her ability to change direction to set things up.

It must be introductory pleasantries between Ryan and Beaty to say they have similar games. Maybe on the mental aspect, because the two are perceptively different in play and physicality. Ryan the slight, set-up for a methodical assist specialist to Beaty's penetrating with strength in quick change, pop-up scores.

I was searching for recruiting info last night and came upon an article from ESPN on "fast-risers" in the Class of 2025. I was surprised to see a young lady from Iowa on that list (and ranked #41 Overall), and more surprised it doesn't appear ISU has recruited her.

Libby Fandel (ESPNW No. 41)
Xavier HS (Iowa) | All Iowa Attack EYBL

Fandel has always shown a knack for understanding the flow of the game and making fundamental plays. She has become more assertive and provides a lot of value to a loaded All Iowa club team: At the last EYBL stop, she shot 47.6% from 3, 87.5% from the free throw line. She has a positive assist/turnover ratio as well and contributes nearly five rebounds a game. As a 6-foot guard/wing, she also plays volleyball, so the promise of potential if she becomes a full-time basketball player is solid.
I saw this article several days ago while traveling, but hadn't seen it posted here yet.

Neither ISU nor Iowa appears to have recruited her seriously - now we'll get to see her two or three times / year - hope we got this assessment correct!

Interesting although both ISU and Iowa are pretty full rostered while she might just slot right in at Kansas.

This "The future Jayhawk is ranked 41st in her class by ESPN W, and had multiple offers from power-5 schools including TCU, Wisconsin, and Virginia Tech before committing to Kansas." make me snicker although technically Wisconsin is a P-5. The mid-majors in Wisc are better than the Badgers although I guess Badgers would have NIL advantages.

Random observation, around 60% of ESPN Top 100 for 2025 remain uncommitted.

Big 12 has 4 commits from the list, Creighton has 3.

Freya Brahe Jensen has been playing in the FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket 2024 Division B tournament for Denmark, which ended yesterday. (They have two divisions with a relegation/promotion system -- Div B is the lower division.)

Denmark went 1-2 in the group phase and 2-2 in the classification phase, good for 14th out of 18. However, Freya led the team in scoring (16.9), assists (2.0), and blocks (0.9), and also averaged 4.4 rebounds and 0.9 steals.

All seven games are on youtube. Links are here: https://www.fiba.basketball/en/even...robasket-2024-division-b/teams/denmark#videos

Her game by game stats are here: https://www.fiba.basketball/en/even.../teams/denmark/320423-freya-jensen#statistics
