I don't know, Goolsby stood out to me in those brief highlight videos. Her athleticism is off the charts.Wouldn’t be surprised to see Bettis starting at OH next fall. I assume Nayeli will have quite a rehab in front of her.
Yeah, CJL suggested on Coaches Corner this week that her rehab will be for an extended period and I highly question her availability to be 100% at the start of next season.Wouldn’t be surprised to see Bettis starting at OH next fall. I assume Nayeli will have quite a rehab in front of her.
These recruits seem to be of a higher standard. Their numbers are elite in some areas. Might be hope for ISU VB yet. Feels strange not having seen any club players for 4 years now. Feel totally lost and out of the loop on who's really good and who is overrated.![]()

The 3 front row recruits definitely appear to be an upgrade in athleticism which is sorely needed IMO. It's desirable to have the length of existing OHs and MBs on the ISU roster but that length gets negated by a lack of athleticism and to a lesser extent, skill and conditioning. These recruits seem to be of a higher standard. ISU lack of conditioning is shocking IMO. Why let that part of the equation slide when you are struggling with injuries and explosiveness issues. TJ needs to invite them to boot camp June 1.The 3 front row recruits definitely appear to be an upgrade in athleticism which is sorely needed IMO. After watching UNI in the NCAAs last week, I was jealous of their front row athleticism, skill and conditioning and how it nearly carried them to the Sweet 16 (and should have if weren't for costly 5th set service errors) despite their relative lack of height.
No incoming setters. I think it could be to far from home. She is from the East Coast, Ames isn’t exactly the easiest place to get in and out of. Could also be how she was utilized in system.I can see why Reagan is leaving but interesting about Emily. She had a good amount of playing time this year. Is the incoming setter potentially able to beat her out?
The new roster limit for VB staring next season is 18. CJL had 15 on this season's roster. 2 are in the portal and 4 2025 newcomers were signed. CJL needs to add a setter with Bobbitt's departure so that would make 18 on next season's projected roster at this point. No setters listed in the portal spreadsheet yet. I assume we will be in the market. All the girls from my daughters class that went to play on East Coast quit. Different world there.
We might see partial scholarships like we do in wrestling. 12 players on the roster is great until anyone gets injured. 18 players is way too many and going to cause problems with playing time. If you have 10 players on full scholarship and then ~5 on partial scholarship with the potential to earn more, it could be an effective strategy. Practice players availability shouldn't ever be an issue with guys from the club team that can step in as competition. The new roster limit for VB staring next season is 18. There will be pressure to minimize costs for all ISU non rev sports on a going forward basis, including VB. So it will be interesting to see how many fully funded schollie players will be on future ISU VB rosters. I wouldn't be surprised if that number eventually gets cut to 12 in some fashion over the next couple of years. And a determination will need to be made on whether any VB players will receive additional NIL benefits directly from the ISU AD starting next fall. I could see an All-Conference or AA type player receiving NIL for retention purposes. But all of that is TBD based on Title IX allocation criteria and that has not yet been fully determined based on what I've read.
Looks like Marc Neef is no longer on staff? Wondered if there would be any coaching changes after a down year.
