I think we let these two box it out for a scholarship.

So who wins?

Well, I'm color blind (and collar) but I'll take the big fella from Houston. I would really love to see Nweke play to be a better judge of his talent. He doesn't look Agnew big/lazy.

Gotta go with Nweke for the simple fact he has something no player on the squad has---the ability push other people around. If he only plays 10 minutes a game for his whole career, I still think it is a good pick up. Iowa State outrebounded its opponents last year for the first time in 4 years and they did it with some pretty skinny post players. Imagine a guy pushing people around going for boards. I say sign him.

I'm with ya on that one. I would love to see us with a BIG guy fighting down low.

How about the "bank the scholarship" option? Idk, if I absolutely had to choose I'd go with Nweke because he'd prolly get down to 270 and become more powerful and effective than Vette ever could be.

John Walters on Channel 5 just said that Vette was visiting ISU this weekend and that Iowa was also showing interest.

Vette is 6'9" 245 lbs, so he is not a push-around by any means. He has had his basketball "coming-of-age" lately and has really shown nice improvement. Vette certainly has the size and what looks like the basketball skills as well.

Nweke on the other hand, is just big. He would certainly need to lose 30 lbs at least. I'm a little concerned with his quickness, and haven't heard much about his shooting ability.

Can someone recap our scholly situation again? Any chance we could sign both? There's been so much going on lately, I can't remember how many we have to use.

My bottom line is: either guy for 4 years is better than Marsden for 2 years (nothing against Marsden, but he was not going to contribute much).

I'm with you Argan. I've seen enough skinny post players to last me many years. Time to see some big guys in there who can throw people around. Think Joseph Jones at A&M.

How are you basing this assessment?? I have yet to see a full-sized picture of him. I have also yet to see him play in a game. Does he have some baby fat ala Agnew or is he chizelled ala Shaq (the early years)??

I have no idea, I'm just tired of people reading a profile and coming to the conclusion that he's no good, or needs to lose weight, or blah blah blah.

Let's just let our coaches make the assessment of who fits our system and program and live with it!!

I was also one of the people excited about the possibility of getting Negedu until I recently read that he needs an up tempo, open court system to flourish in. With our set offenses, I'm not sure he would be the best fit for our team. Would I take him?? YES, because it means he won't be playing for an opponent!! :wink0st:

I think the Kid from Houston has more Upside. However I would not be real disappointed if we took both or just one. Gmac knows better than I on this one.

Nweke was supposedly seen in Ames in a resturaunt, Will supposedly go back to texas to make up his mind by the end of the week. ALL Specualations from another clone. I did not see this. But Still if this is so, WOW MAc, let the gates of the apocalypse open up, Basketball season is starting to late, get it started now

Wow, if we pick up both of them I will..... well I don't know what I'll do, but it will probably involve me acting like a 5 year old running around outside screaming for joy :yes4lo:
