How do you get named the captain of the All-State 4A squad and not win it?

When there is someone in a different class better than you are. Jess Settles was 1A and won it. He didn't go to a big 4A school, but still would have dominated on a 4A team. Vette played extremely well throughout the tournament. Did a very good job inside and out in the championship game. I was unable to watch the 4A game, but Vette did EXTREMELY well in the tourny. The way WSR played in that championship game, I think they could have given the 4A teams a run for their money.

Mr. Basketball goes to best player in the state, regardless of class. It also doesn't matter how the team fairs in the state tournament.

Jeff Horner won Mr Basketball but Mason City lost in the Quarter Finals.

Horner wasn't even on the All-Tournament Team

Only person I'm not sure about on that list from the last 10 years was Josh Van Es from MOC-FV. Did he go anywhere to play? The rest were all D1 players...

I think he ended up playing for Northwestern College in Orange City. Guess he didn't want to move away from home.
