Heading to Vegas this week to experience March Madness and St. Patty's day. For those that have been, just looking for ideas on best places to catch games and/or bet on games. Do we need to get to a sports book early or just go when a games on we want to watch?

Other things we should do during this week knowing that its going to be packed with people?

Best places to celebrate St. Patty's day there?

TIA

Also will be there this weekend! Curious to see the answers on this post as well. All I've heard is that betting is like an old school stock exchange this week and if you need time to place your bets (first timers) then do it between 4-6am or else people are gonna get mad.

You are going at the best/worst time to go. Went out last year for my stag party. Long lines everywhere to make a bet. Bring a drink and a friend to hold a spot of you gotta go pee. To save you some embarrassing things, don't walk up and say I want ISU minus -8, they have no idea what your talking about. Rather you place your bet with the number, for instance there will be 67 - ISU -8 68 IONA +6. You would say 200 on number 68. Also, you don't get free drinks in the book. 100 bucks gets you 1 free drink, 250 gets you 6. Find a game you and a friend agree on, and put your money together for a 6 pack. Find small books, buy all your games, drink there free drinks, then go to the big book to watch. Hard Rock has a very tiny book that might not be to busy. Good Luck, it's packed and expensive, but so much fun being a degenerate with everyone else!

My favorite place to watch the games are the sports books and specifically The Venetian has a great place to watch all the games!

Lines definitely form from time to time at the Sports Books, but it's usually a line to 5-6 betting stations, so it's not like anyone is paying that much attentio to you anyway. In my experience, usually super chill when bets are made and super exciting at ends of close games.

We would go every year until my wife got pregnant. We used to watch the games at the NYNY sportsbook which I think is gone now. I agree that this time of year is middle aged men but you know what - vegas really isn't like the movies unless you're a wealthy dbag.

Go have fun - anywhere downtown will be less busy and I second the past about betting by numbers - not names. People bet on everything there so it's not as simple as it might be here.

I'm driving up with eight other guys on Thursday night. We always stay at The Orleans as it is less crowded, updated and off the strip. We are paying $250/night for a large 1400 sq ft suite with two huge rooms, baths and a large living area perfect for watching games and drinking. It makes it super cheap for us especially since its only a four hr drive and we don't have to pay the outrageous airline prices. The sportsbook is nothing special but there are also huge bar areas for people to sit and watch with great drink specials if you aren't gambling. The best part is that they use their 40,000 sq ft conference room as a massive game watch area with eight large projector screens and they allow you to place bets in there so you don't have to go back down four floors to the sportsbook. You get a drink ticket every separate time you go place a bet. So if you place four bets at once you get one ticket.

We are golfing Saturday morning to get out of the Casino for a bit and save some money. If you like the nightlife there are plenty of places to go but be prepared to pay a **** ton of money to get into the clubs.

I will reiterate what DuragoCy said, as it is basically a major sausage fest during the day but at night the college girls on spring break show up out of nowhere! So at least there is a little eye candy.

March madness is the best time of the year to go to Vegas. I usually get my seats saved as early as possible, and then let the drinking/betting/watching begin.

I was in Vegas the weekend that UNI upset Kansas. I was pretty upset at first because I was talking a bunch of **** to UNI fans about Kansas, but when we won our five-person pooled moneyline bet on UNI, it was alright.

As people have said, be prepared for lines. We watched all the games at MGM and thought that was pretty good. We always sent someone down early in the morning to save a table for us.

Sports books wont' be open during those hours. They typically won't open until 7 am Vegas time.
