Is utefans.net still around? Even though I’m a BYU (and ISU fan), Cougarboard for BYU is pretty bad. But utefans.net is worse.
Sometimes I ended up reading actual football takes and they seem to expect to never lose in the easy Big 12. They might be surprised comparing the past 10-15 years of results of TCU, Baylor and OK State to the best Pac teams. At the absolute worst the Big 12 is going to be comparable to their old Pac schedules, it'll probably be slightly more difficult. Of course 1/4 of the league now is the Pac.
To be somewhat fair, arguably the most difficult element of the Big 12 the last decade or so is gone the exact time UU is joining.

The week to week competitive grind of the round rob schedule against quality teams (except KU until last year) is now gone. We can pick out Baylor TCU and Ok State for their ability to be contenders more often than not, and rightfully so. But even a big 12 homer like me can see that's not our strongest argument, and at best it's a wash with the pac.

I think we can be optimistic that indivual Big 12 schedules have to ability to be similarly but slightly less difficult most years, but that's not necessarily a guarantee.

Sadly, it's virtually inevitable that parity will go down with 16 teams, especially taking four from a notoriously top heavy and uneven conference and four that were previously G5, albeit the best ones.

Utah plays Baylor next week? Talk about a strong noncon. Wow.
I guess we should root for them to beat UF and lose to BU.

It will be a long year if they lose to UF and beat BU. If that happens, they lose a good chunk of prestige as a FB program for losing twice to a middling SEC team, but their toxic elitist attitude toward the Big 12 goes up another notch beating one of our better FB brands.

It will probably happen. Great.

I think our schedules will be more comparable to Pac schedules of the past decade...not the cakewalk compared to Pac schedules UU thinks they're gonna get.

Last year Big 12 graded out as #2 division. Pac North was 5th, Pac South was 8th. Year before was about the same. (using sagarin computer)

Utah has been playing easy football compared to that old big 12 grind. I'm with you that I don't mind the schedule becoming less of a grind. B12 never got credit for consistently having the #2 SOS, sometimes #1. The media is still going to treat us like the #3 or #4 conference so it'll be good to actually be #3 or #4 in SOS and get easier wins.

Utah needs to be humbled but this is a chance to take the SEC down a peg.

Spectrum apparently doesn't have ESPN at the moment. Can't see the game. Weird.

How much does that cost? I had Fubo for several years. Switched to YouTube TV last year and have been very pleased with the move. Both come out to about 80 ish dollars all together.

It's part of the overall bill so actually not sure.

do not like Fox Sports new scoreboard at bottom of screen. Takes up way too much of the screen and mid 90s typography on the team names.
I see where you're coming from 100%. At the same time, Fox has been more innovative than ESPN for a long time how and has always been graphic heavy and skewed toward mass entertainment appeal.

I agree 100% the team name typography is hokey, and it's borderline jarring and definitely unnecessary for hardcore CFB fans like most people on these boards, but for kids and casual fans I can see highlighting the actual mascot names having some unexpected value and appeal. Selfishly, I think it will be kind of cool to have 'Cyclones' paired with the I state logo that admitted has nothing to do with a Cyclone.

Add that to the stand alone aspect without the ESPN sports ticker we have all become accustomed to and the over-the-top dramatic commerical transitions and turned up call style of Fox announcers, I actually don't mind having an alternative to the sanitized ESPN style that can become stuffy and impersonal pretty easily.

Plus their onscreen cgi playclock sucks, twice already I thought the "7" was a "1" thinking the offense was about to get delay only to see a "6" appear next. Bad stuff.
