That and Campbell isn't a "Michigan Man", so he'd have an exceptionally short leash there.

Neither was Bo Schembechler. Bo played for Woody Hayes at Miami of Ohio and started his career as an assistant at Ohio State. Michigan may have found their QB though and might win a couple more games, saving Harbaugh's job unless he bolts for the NFL.

Urb to USC......porn, gangs, cocaine, barges hitting blue whales, swimming pools, movie stars, Justin Timberlake, Heisman trophies, OJ Simpson, B-list television stars and Bradley Whitford, D-list reality/gameshow stars, Kardashians, earthquakes, and the airport is really close to the campus.

Don't forget the homeless camps everywhere. There's so much to love about SoCal.

Tennessee has more players in proximity to campus than most Big 10/12 schools being in the Deep South.

True, but they are in the same division as Florida and Georgia. And in the same conference as Alabama, Auburn, A&M, and Auburn. Only so many wins to go around.

I've gotten to the point that I dont fear Campbell leaving any time soon. The support is there from all angles and I dont think money is what drives him. I see a lot of what has driven Pollard to stay here in CMC, the challenge of doing what has never been done before and the gratification of how it feels once you accomplish it is amazing. If it were to come to money I think the program is at a place they would find it but right now I think it would take an amazing situation to pry him away right now. The talent this team has coming back next season is a big reason to stay as well. Hes building something special here right now and much like Pollard I think CMC wants to be here to see it through.

This pretty much happens at every non-blue blood program when a coach has success. Hell, Iowa fans went through this during the early years of Kirk.

So far Campbell has turned down 'bigger' programs. Lets hope that continues. For now, just enjoy this season.

Why would he leave? Makes good money, not near the ******** like blue blood programs and has HIS program rolling. In a tough competitive conference to boot.

I don’t know, he’s a different kind of guy. I’m not sure he would look at Michigan and see that as a great job right now.

Anyone can win where Urban Meyer has won.... nobody has shown they can win at ISU.... and I think that really drives Matt and JP both. I hope so anyway.

I look at someone like Phil Jackson.... what did he really accomplish by coaching the best teams by far in the NBA to a championship? A lot of people can probably do that.

Doing these kinds of things at ISU REALLY shows what level of coach you are.

Not to defend Urb, but he won at dogcrap Bowling Green, Utah was mediocre for years before he got there, and Florida was coming off the Ron Zook era. He’s a piece of crap but he can flat out coach.

Zook was an oddity. He could recruit like no other but couldn’t coach to save his life.

It is good to be in the limelight and national folks talking about stealing your coach.

Two things to consider, one of the easier path to the playoffs is through the Big12. If you win out , you will be in the playoffs. It is not a grind like the SEC or the BIG 10 east.

The second part, CMC in my opinion has still not put together a complete season. Early season loses, crucial game loses and bowl loses. To be honest outside of OU the BIG 12 has not been good the last few years and OU has got smacked in the postseason.

I think there are Coaches above CMC with proven records. CMC is an amazing fit here and he is growing. Pay the man like a top 25 coach and replace Manning offense , we may be in the playoffs.

I don't know for sure what makes CMC tick, but I don't think he would enjoy coaching entitled 4*s and 5*s.

I think he will leave Iowa State if he continues to win 8-9 games a year, but can't recruit the quality of players to get past that point. I am not talking about 5*s, but we need to get a few more skill position 4*s and a higher level of 3*s. Kids with good character and work ethic that love playing on a 5* culture team who understand they will start in the dugout, and not on 3rd base.

One of the key reasons CMC should stay was on full display today. He has proven he can win at ISU; while Texas is approaching 10 years of trying to be “back”. Same at Michigan, Nebraska, FSU, etc.. There is more parity than ever, but expectations for these schools are still based on history; a advantageous past that’s not coming back. The result, unrealistic expectations and a revolving door of coaches. Think about how all those programs were built, coaching consistency with the right coach at the right time and commitment from the school.

CMC...should be ISU’s Snyder, Beamer, Fry/Ferentz, Bowden, etc..
Preach, brother. Pile of truth in this post. I wish I could like it more than once. As someone just a tick older than Coach, you learn about 5-10 years into your professional career that the grass isn't always greener. Know what you want, know what you're good at, own it and enjoy the hell out of it.

Hopefully Campbell sees that next year this ISU squad has a legitimate shot at being a playoff team and at least stays for that. If money is the most important thing to him, JP will offer him a salary high enough to make this a moot point. Since it’s a wild season with this virus, I think guys like Herman and Harbaugh get one more chance. At this point in time, there really isn’t a single reason he should take Nebraska’s job if Frost were to go.
