Nebraska (in their eyes) needs someone who's going to get them to 11-1 and 12-0 type of stratosphere and nobody will be able to do that.

The Nebraska of the late 90s had a ton of recruiting advantages - mostly TV and NFL pedigree. Now, every team is on TV every week. And talent evaluation is so good, the NFL will find you if you are good. Nebraska of old is dead. The best they can hope for is Iowa-type success.

Tennessee is in the same boat. This ain’t the 1990s anymore.

Campbell can accomplish the same things at Iowa State that he can at Nebraska. And probably has an easier road to conference titles and potential CFB playoff berths. Which is why, in my opinion, it takes a Top 3-5 CFB job to lure him away. (Assuming ISU keeps his pay competitive as I expect JP to do).

Yea, the college football landscape has changed and programs like Nebraska were hit the hardest by scholarship and roster restrictions. They’re also the school with the least number of P5 recruits within a 300 mile radius of campus. They’ve recruited well rankings wise but haven’t developed players like they did in the past.

Urban a good coach yes, but you're right, no loyalties. Doesn't he remember his early times at Utah?

Oh yeah I gues he does. Didn't stop him form moving on.

Tennessee has more players in proximity to campus than most Big 10/12 schools being in the Deep South.

Not to mention no longer being able to bring in partial qualifiers.

CMC has said it, he loves the 5 star culture vs the 5 star recruit. The dude wants to do it here. He doesn’t want the 5 star recruit thing, you can see it when he left Pitt to go to Mount Union as a player. He’s created something at Iowa State and I think it would be completely out of character for him to leave. I respect the **** out of the man.

We all know Gameday is going to be about the future of Herman at Texas and Urban as the possible replacement. Then throw in their love for OSU and Day not coaching (give Alabama the same love with Saban out to.) Then all the love for the Golden Domers winning today and possible CFP matches. A lot of blah blah blah blah with their heads below the desk.

Nope. Obviously you have serious advantages at Michigan, but they are a major notch below OSU and aren’t catching up any time soon.

That Nebraska job tho
What do you think is harder. Turning Iowa State's program around and finishing 1st or 2nd this year. Or have Michigan catch up to OSU? I don't think he'd go to Michigan, but why would he be afraid of not being able to "catch up" to OSU? He's gotten Iowa State consistently competitive with Oklahoma and Texas for god's sake.

If he was starting from scratch at ISU, for sure overtaking OSU at Michigan would be easier. But he’s not starting over at ISU.

Some coaches want be part of a great tradition like Michigan. Some coaches want to be responsible for creating it. Michigan is a great job. And I think Campbell would do great there. But anybody that goes to Michigan is a couple really good years away from challenging OSU.

If NFL is a near term goal he can go there straight from ISU within the next couple of years. Why take a few year pit stop at Michigan when he can challenge for league titles at ISU without uprooting the family.

Urb to USC......porn, gangs, cocaine, barges hitting blue whales, swimming pools, movie stars, Justin Timberlake, Heisman trophies, OJ Simpson, B-list television stars and Bradley Whitford, D-list reality/gameshow stars, Kardashians, earthquakes, and the airport is really close to the campus.
No hickory park on that list, though

Michigan is harder due to fans and recruits being entitled. Michigan may have been easier before he got here but there’s a reason some of these schools keep going through coaches.

That and Campbell isn't a "Michigan Man", so he'd have an exceptionally short leash there.
