Uptown Ankeny adding Axe Throwing and rooftop bar

I live in Jonhston so I don't get over there much but this is my favorite part of Ankeny. Uptown Garage Brewing has some great selection, leaning tower has great pizza, etc. I just wish Firetrucker would make some better brews. I know their founder/brewer died.

Yeah, its a nice atmosphere and I enjoy a couple of their darker beers but I definitely wish they could up their game. I've found myself over in Bondurant at Reclaimed rails far more often than at Firetrucker.

You're right about Uptown garage though. Solid selection they have there.

Thursday night bags league at Uptown Garage...1st night of the fall session is tonight...if you like playing bags and like Uptown get in a future league! Drink specials for bags players all night.

Which makes it perfect timing for Ankeny.

Ahhh...more Ankeny bashing.

I've lived in Ankeny all of my long life and I love it here. Yeah, we've got some RWNJ's in our population, but what Iowa town doesn't? Can't be too horrible, as some posters like to claim, when it has one of the fastest population growth rates in the nation.

I'm assuming bags and corn hole are the same thing. Is this a pop & soda type deal or what?

I didn't realize corn hole was a big thing - I saw they had a tournament last week at the Field of Dreams site.

A couple things.
Yes, Cornhole=bags.
As for Uptown Ankeny, it is getting to be a really nice entertainment area. Uptown Garage is great with a nice patio. Trailside tap probably has the best patio in town, and good food and drinks. Yankee Clipper is the hometown bar with great tacos on Tuesday. But our favorite for food is Uptown Food & Beverage, owned by ISU alum and former NFL player, Dennis Gibson. Dennis is there nearly all the time and they have great food (including pizza) and a nice bar. With Mullets and axe throwing (?) being added, I’m a little concerned about parking availability.

I live in CR, so I can't throw stones too far, but the idea of living in essentially a large suburban traffic light-fest is so unappealing to me. When it was cheaper than DSM, I understood the attraction, but as I understand that isn't really the case any more.

First read that as axe throwing on a rooftop and seemed like that would be taking it up a level.
Well, obviously. And maybe two levels, depending on whether or not it's a ranch style.
