Uptick in spam calls

For the last 2+ years I’ve been getting 5-10 calls per day about loans that I didn’t apply for. No change recently. Most go direct to voicemail. Annoying as hell.

The problem right now is that I am waiting on a few phone calls (one regarding a medical bill dispute and another for a fence install for this week). I normally don't answer if it is a number I don't recognize but I have lately.

Has anyone else noticed a huge uptick in spam calls the past few months or is it just me? I get about 5-8 spam calls a day. Some of them are marked as potential spam and others are not. I have had a lot of calls recently asking if I had received my food card. I have been expecting some certain calls for quotes on house items so I have been answering more, but it has been really bad the past week or two. I wonder if I can find a way to bring the number down.
I haven't been getting any calls lately, but that's because my service was all fouled up and my carrier couldn't fix it. Any time I called someone or someone called me, we'd get a message that there was a dialing restriction on my phone. I was still sending and receiving texts, but I couldn't call anyone. I had to get a new carrier because, as I said, the old one couldn't fix it. The new carrier told me that the old carrier had "lost" my phone, whatever that means. They had to give me a new phone, my second new one in a week, because I thought the old phone was the problem. They gave me a credit for my old new phone, however.

I've noticed an uptick.

Though not as bad as the calls I get for someone who shares the same name and is a CIO of some company in Australia. Get spam calls for them regularly after midnight here

Has anyone with an iPhone enabled call screening? My understanding is it will make unknown callers say their reason for calling and then that gets texted to you. You then decide if you want the call to be put through. It is supposed to cut down spam calls but I wonder how much it annoys legitimate unknown callers like service people who call to let you know they are on the way to your house.
I turned that on on my Samsung phone. So far it is working pretty well. Went from 5-10 calls a day down to basically zero. Maybe a couple a week. I've had new customers call me, go through the task of saying their name and even repeating their name and info cause the assistant doesn't hear them and not a single one has said anything to me about the procedure to get through to me.

When I had Google Fi until this year and owning a Pixel...I never got spam calls! Ever! Left Google Fi in January and now get a couple of spam calls a week...so an uptick for me but nothing outrageous yet!

Trump removed the protections that Biden placed on robo callers. Idk if there was something else that happened recently to make it worse?

I was going to post something similar. Consumer protections have been weakened.

I don't know if some or all this ended up passing but the current FCC did not want consumers to have an option for automated opt out of spam calls.

I just got four or five phone calls within ten minutes, all claiming to be an automated message from Venmo wanting me to press 1.

I used to have calls silenced unless I had them saved, or have called them. But with my current position I took it off since I can get calls from people I hadn’t contacted/saved first.

I’ve been getting 4-5 calls a day of late saying that I’ve been pre approved for a $345K business loan with 3% interest for 72 months. There’s been a couple of times that I want to answer and tell them the last person offered me 2%, can you do any better?!?

I ended up turning on the feature on my iPhone that automatically sends calls from people not in my phone book to voicemail. It’s helped in the sense that my phone doesn’t go off multiple times a day, but it’s still annoying to clean up there dumb voicemails every day

It used to be about reducing my student loan payments (I was lucky enough not to need any) and has now somehow morphed to arborists wanting to evaluate my trees and people wanting to overpay for my house.

I get 2-3 (if not more) texts a day from the political party I don’t vote for, for a person with a completely different name. Drives me insane

I’ve been getting these calls for a year+. I get 2-4 voicemails per day. Now I’m getting “tax relief” scam calls.

I use Hiya as a blocker which works great but still get some legit calls that are forced to VM which is annoying but better than my phone ringing 5-8 times per day from spam.
