Update on BB

cyismydog - who is going to pick up Broghammer? Last I heard Iowa and other schools that had been recruiting him hard were cooling.

I spoke with Brackins, biggest concern was losing the weight during conditioning...He joked with Mac about not having to go through conditioning...was unsuccessful in that regard:biglaugh:

He just needs to get to GNC for some weight gainer...

I almost think we need to win with a lighter schedule until Gmac gets this turned around. Even though I hate playing bad teams.

I completely agree. I don't even hate playing crappy teams. I especially don't hate them when we already have more than 10 wins going into the conference season. Teams need to learn to win.

I could care less what kind of non-conference schedule we play next year.

Yea, we should totally play fluff non-conference games so that when we start what is generally one of the hardest conference seasons in college basketball, we can get smacked around and win maybe four more games because we've been playing awful teams all season :skeptical:

Sure hope Brackins and DG have put on the weight, they are going to need it this season now that we are relying even more on them without WJ. Hopefully Craig puts in some hard work this summer on some new post moves too.

Craig told me Saturday that he's up to 235 now, and he was playing at 213 all year. Hopefully he can keep it all on once they start conditioning again.

That's scary because he was 10 inches taller and only 15 lbs heavier than me last year:eek:

Would be great if he could get up to 245 before the season and play around 235

This may be a dumb question but does coach Sheppard work with the BB players as well or do they have their own guy?

Their is a kid from Johnston who goes to school with Nick Smith. His name is Mitch Fondell and he is pretty good and you might want to keep your eye on him. He had an injury last year which prevented him from playing varsity. He has a nice stroke and can drive and dish. He is about 6' foot right now with still room to grow and get stronger.

Exactly... Kevin Durant couldn't even get 185 once when he worked out.

And I know Durant isn't a big man, but benching isn't all that important for a basketball player to be successful. Yes, strength is important as a whole but players can get by and actually be pretty good without having eye-popping lifting numbers in basketball...

I am not saying Jiri should be able to bench 300 lbs. But 185 more than twice? Yes. He played center in the big 12! He needed to be able to bang down low. And if you don't think strength is that important in basketball, go back and watch game tape of Maric from Nebraska.
