149 - Briceno
157 - Trev Paulson, L Swalla, and L Goettl (No Woiwor)
165 - Molina and Breitenbach

184 - Egli and Esaias
197 - Pestano
285 - Scanlan and Quean Smith

Might be dinged up or maybe needs to concentrate on finals. Could be a number of things

Not a lot of matches against D-1 kids so far. Meeks tech falled Darrin Eades from UNI and beat Brandon Fifield of Michigan State 3-1 in overtime. Other than that our non-walk ons are doing pretty well beating up on D-III and Grandview kids, our walk on guys are having mixed results. Most of the brackets have at least a few D-I kids in them so as we get closer to the finals there should be some more intruiging matchups.

Meeks (141), Goettl (157), and Molina (174) into the finals. We're having some guys injury default and medical forfeit, but that's endemic at open tournaments so I dunno if anybody is actually hurt or not.

125: Larson takes 3rd
141: Meeks takes 1st
149: Blayne Briceno takes 4th
157: Luke Goettl take 1st
165: Logan Breitenbach takes 4th
174: Logan Molina takes 2nd
197: Marcus Harrington takes 3rd, Dane Pestano takes 5th
HWT: Joe Scanlon takes 3rd, Quean Smith takes 6th (Smith made it to the semifinals and then forfieted the rest of his matches)

Don't read too much into the various finishes because in an open not every bracket is created equal.

Would have been nice to see Harrington in the finals against Minto, but having him turn a 7-4 loss to Krumweide in the morning into a 9-3 win over him in the afternoon was good, he went 3-1 against D1 wrestlers and avenged his loss.

interesting gossip from Kentucky Mudflap regarding the UNI open

Heard the lowdown KJS got this Patrick Downey stashed down to Iowa Central he wins the title and keeps his nose clean hes coming to Ames next year on a full ride KJ needs to fill Kyvens shoes and Downeys a get well pill like the kid saw him down to the Iowa City duals pinned Klappedrod reminds me of me win I was a pup.

IF any of this is true, is Harrington going to be beefing up to HWT?

Downey is listed as 184/197 on Iowa Central's roster so that could make sense, since if we were going to bump somebody out of the lineup I'd think we'd recruit over Smith before we recruited over Weatherspoon.

How is Downey 22 and only a redshirt freshman?

Marcus will be the 197 pounder for the forseeable future. I can't see KJ putting a lot of money towards Downey based on his history. Only way he sees Iowa State is at 184 and don't think that is happening.
