Came as a TE, left as a Tackle

Actually, he came as a center, got stolen to play TE, left as a tackle. I was at that game where Tim Floyd's recruiting class played the best recruits of the rest of the Big 8. Too bad Floyd lost so many members of that recruiting class. We might have had TWO national championships if they had all made it on the team, and Andy had remained a BB player. One columnist made a good argument that that ISU recruiting class was better than Duke's that year, and that was the Duke class that had Carlos Boozer.

That is really tall! What is the tallest offensive lineman to ever play? just curious.
Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure Jonathan Ogden was 6'9 and I think Villanueva who plays for the Steelers right now is also 6'9. I'd be surprised if there has been anybody taller than that who played at a high level.

As I recall he came to ISU with the thought that he would play both FB and BB from the start.

And eff the NCAA. We hates it!

Villanueva was listed as a 6'10" WR his senior year but he played a couple of other positions at Army (including on the O-line) before that.

That was his plan. He made the best decision to play football. He would have struggled with the basketball athletes. I saw 6 3 d3 athletes destroy him in basketball.

I remember him playing WR against Iowa State. That dude was a tough matchup.
They got in the red zone and just threw the fade to him 3 plays in a row figuring that they only had to beat the defense once. Luckily ISU's corner was up to the challenge.

EDIT: After thinking about it, I thought they might have gotten the TD on that. It turns out Kennard Banks (at 5'9") denied the completion on 1st and 2nd down but they got their only TD of the game on 3rd down.

“I grew up a Hawkeye,” he said. “It has been a change for me. I’ve noticed the difference in how the two teams practice. Noticing the practices, an Iowa practice compared to an Iowa State practice, just the energy level Iowa State has over Iowa…I really like that a lot. They’ve got a lot going on that they didn’t when I was little.”
