He's not smart, just rich. But you're right, that makes it very hard to actually fail in this country.

He is very smart. He has started or improved many failing businesses.

Zip2
PayPal
Tesla
Space x

Zip2 and PayPal at the time we’re revolutionary. PayPal was actually voted worst business idea of the year, then it became a billion dollar company. He too Tesla out of bankruptcy. You may not like him . He isn’t dumb though.

What do you mean by "fraud"? What does he do or say that you think is fraudulent? Are you saying Tesla is a fraudulent company? SpaceX? His buying of Twitter was fraudulent? He pretends to be something he's not? I'm going to need specifics.

We could start with the full self driving fraud. Or the hyperloop fraud. Or the boring company. Or his physics degree. Or the idea that he was the "founder" of PayPal or Tesla.

Guy has failed upwards his entire life, which is easy to do when you are born into wealth

And get the us government to fund your operations.

Both of those are government-backed. Life's easy under subsidy and government contracting. Twitter does not fall into those categories.

Also, Elon still financed about 40% of his Twitter purchase IIRC.
Yes, SpaceX gets government contracts. That's not the same as being subsidized. They also compete with other rocket companies for those contracts. They also compete with NASA. Right now they're destroying all those competitors. Last year SpaceX put more mass into space than the rest of the world combined. I don't think people realize what big deal that is. They put more mass into space than the rest of the private sector, NASA, China, India, Russia, and Europe...combined.

Haha. Fail upwards is what you say when someone does something good. Unreal

Hard to fail when dad owns an emerald mine.
I've done a lot of digging on this in the past. That doesn't appear to actually be true. At best, it looks like his dad had some small shares in a mine at one point in his life and made modest to no money off it. That doesn't make a good headline, though.

He was just an investor, his contribution was money, not intelligence.

He doesn't need to.
What kind of “smart businessman” buys something without the intention to make money from it? Does he think he’s running Twitter as a public service? If so, why the maniacal need to slash the workforce/pimp for advertisers/brag about engagement numbers?

Either he’s a brilliant businessman who’s making the smart decisions to make Twitter profitable, or he’s a sham who’s happy setting his money on fire so he can troll his critics on his very own social media platform. I know which option looks the most likely at the moment.

A lot of people have been claiming it's 1-2 days away from collapsing for the last three weeks. I haven't noticed any issues since Elon took over. Seems like he trimmed a lot of fat with no apparent consequences to how Twitter runs. I think that's pretty common for large tech companies. Didn't Facebook just lay off like 10,000 employees and no one batted an eye? For the majority of people that use Twitter, if they didn't know Elon bought it, they would have no idea anything is different.
We’ll see how long it holds up. It takes a fair amount of work to keep a platform of that size just operational. There’s constant maintenance. It will run just fine right up until it doesn’t.

Add to that he’s trying to add new features as well.

You don't seem to know that much about Elon Musk. Did he claim to be the founder or Tesla and Paypal? Or is that other people that make those lazy associations?

I don't think he was born as wealthy as you assume. There isn't clear info on his family history or wealth.
