Transfer Portal (Big 12)

For those that follow these things, the transfer portal is filling up very quickly already across Big 12 teams. I didn’t realize Kansas had 16 players enter the portal already! Iowa State has the least at 4 with Bankston being the only one who played a snap this year. I’m guessing Iowa State will be somewhat quiet on the transfer market if few players transfer out and seniors take advantage of the additional year of eligibility.

ISU landed a grad transfer from Andrew Mevis (Fordham) to handle kicking duties next year. I’m not sure why it isn’t updated on the transfer portal—-I think it mainly covers FBS transfers

I'd like another good cover corner. Our guys didn't look good against speed yesterday, and it wasn't just scheme.

I still don’t get Bankston leaving, but oh well. I think if we get a stud d-line man, a good corner, and a speedy wide receiver, we will be set. It’ll be interesting to see how Milton does next year. There will be a lot of receivers needed since Kolar is likely gone. I’m not sure if I’m confident in Scates yet to handle 40+ catches. He seems to still have a tough time running clean routes.

Yeah, but Jackson was the more polished receiver. Porter needs to find the weight room.

I would like to see an analysis of our scholarship situation. How many do we have room for and what is the effect on class sizes in our locker room going forward. It would seem it requires some careful management to make sure we don't have some lopsided classes.

I would do the math but after last night I don't think I will be doing any math for several days.

Yep, the Bankston thing REALLY surprised me. He was really coming on and poised to have a much larger role next year I thought.

I tend to agree with you. Someone else said he was not much of a team player, but that could be unfounded. Kind of a shame, as he would have gotten a lot of playing time in 2021.

I don't think we'll make too many moves until we know who all is coming back. We could use some depth at few spots but I honestly like who we have at almost every spot. I think the WR group has some questions but I think a healthy Milton along with XH could be really good and Shaw had some moments that showed his potential.

We don’t need an interior lineman for the defensive front. PT is the whole reason Bankston left.

And if Scates, Porter or Bitters put it together, we won’t need a WR,either—that sort of “over the top” guy is rare in the portal anyway.
