Trade aTm for BYU

Why don't they want it? Fine, we'll just go back to North and South divisions. UT and OU will play in the regular season but not in the championship game.

It would be just like now... playing 9 conference games IF you make the CCG.

Same Big XII divisions as before... except Nebby and Colorado replaced with BYU and AF/L'ville in the North.

Would be GREAT for ISU.
The Big 12 Championship game has cost the Big 12 potential National Championships. More than once the under dog has won and taken the favorite out of the National Championship running. KSU beat Oklahoma and Colorado beat Texas.

Most coaches of programs that are legit National Championship contenders HATE conference championship games. It gives them one more opportunity to stumble and lose against a quality opponent. Coaches like Bob Stoops don't want another obstacle in their path to a BCS Championship.
Exactly. We will see how tOSU likes it. Prior to realignment, they could avoid the toughest team in their conference and walk to the National Championship game. Now they may have to face that team twice in order to get to the National Championship game. Can you imagine tOSU and Michigan playing in their rivalry game at the end of the season, both winning their division and then play the following week? Sometimes it is hard to beat the same team twice

It cost the Big XII 4 National Championship game appearances. On 2 other occasions it should have but didn't due to flukes in the BCS process. Texas lost in the title game a few years back and Nebraska slipped into the NCG although they didn't play in the Big XII title game. Then a few years back OU collapsed and lost to K-State and they still made it to the NCG which defies all logical explanation.

In the end the Big XII title game really has never propelled a team that was on the outside looking in at the top 2 spots in the BCS standings into the BCS title game. In most years the Big XII has had a team in the BCS title game they were firmly either #1 or #2 in the BCS standings already. In essence the Big XII title game has never helped as much as it has hurt the Big XII.

If its at all workable the divisions would likely be redone for balance. Okie schools would join the north and the 2 newbs would join the TX schools. Better for rivalries & balance

The best (or worst) example is K-State in the late 90's when they lost to aTm in the CCG, falling all the way to the............. Holiday Bowl maybe?.
