Top 5 Songs

This is way harder than the Trolley Problem or picking your favorite child.

These might not even by my favorite songs by these artists on a given day, but it is an earnest attempt:

Long Tall Sally - Little Richard
Stand by Me - Ben E. King
Where Did Our Love Go? - the Supremes
God Only Knows - the Beach Boys
Sweet Jane - the Velvet Underground

Also, I’m picking recordings/performances and not strictly songs.

And this list is sorely lacking in Sam Cooke, Stax Records, and Punk Rock.

This is pretty hard and always changes but here goes:
Asthenia-Blink 182
Forgot about Dre-Dr Dre/Eminem
Reptilia-the strokes
Stella-All time low
865-Morgan wallen

There are about 50 others...

1. Alex Chilton - The Replacements
2. Paranoid Android - Radiohead
3. Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
4. These Days - REM
5. Cream of Gold - Pavement
I read the Replacements book "Troubled Boys". Wow, what a story. There was no one in rock and roll history that was crazier than them. They should have been huge, so much talent. Their legend will continue to grow though. As I understand it, the people that made Stranger Things are doing a movie on The Replacements.

As much as we disagree on nearly everything ISU and Iowa related... I think we'd get along great with a few cold ones and some tunes. Love all 5 of those.

This is SO difficult though... I'm very moody and this would change almost daily. These Days by REM though would make my top 5 for sure. The others would too on most days, but maybe not every day.

I'll have to go out on a ledge though, after some more thought, and give my top 5.

Love it. Probably the best music biography I've ever read. Have it out on the corner shelf stand in my home office. Replacements are my favorite band of all time. They should've been huge but they never could've gotten out of their own way to allow that to happen. I love the story about when they were recording in the same studio as Metallica in 1989 and got so sh*tfaced and destructive they actually scared the hell out of the guys in Metallica.

“Alex Chilton” is my favorite Repacements song too.

A couple years ago I had the surreal experience of seeing Tommy Stinson play a set in the backyard of an acquaintance. He was pretty good!

There's too much music to distill, it's just going to be boomers and gen x like me saying zepellin, some old ****, pumpkins and etc etc forever
now if you want to talk current music, maybe these songs by this band Wet Leg.

a much cooler thread would have been what are ames bands you listened to on the local radio radio station 5 am after stocking Ames Sams club shelves on your skid loader driving home wanting to get some beers and wake up for class
