We toasted Coach Mac for 12 great years, and hoped that both you and Coach Chiz would stay around long enough for ISU to get to greater heights. We're ready to drink the kool-ade and hope for better days to come, but you know what - we're been down this road before. Hey - We didn't just fall off the turnip truck yesterday, by the way.
Wow! I actually read all of this rant but the section above is the salient passage of this diatribe. "We toasted Coach Mac for 12 great years"...this guy is still upset that we let McCarney go! He would have found something to be upset about no matter what transpired on Saturday...because his beloved coach Mac is now the D-line coach at USF.
Just as a point of reference, all coaches get only a certain number of days and sessions for "spring practice"...they have to use this very valuable time as the think is best. Additionally, most schools are going away from the "old style" spring game concept for a number of reasons:
+they can't focus on the areas they want to focus on as well in a game as they can with a controlled scrimmage
+if they divide teams evenly then they don't have certain players playing together and if they divide teams to keep starters together then they have mismatches and don't get a realistic look
+they want to avoid injuries (especially with a team that has limited depth to start with)
+they don't want to give away too much of their playbook
Frankly, this guy is probably sitting in too good of a seat for how little he donates to the university.
