Correct and that is why anyone here suggesting that Tinsley threw that game is a ****** idiot.

He would dribble between defender's legs and make unbelievable no-look passes to Fizer on the block. I absolutely loved watching him play.
Possible, yes, but the whole damn team would have had to be in on it then. Nobody played worth a damn that night and LE didn't coach worth a damn that night.
LE burnt that team out during the regular season but they had a whole week after the Baylor loss in the B12 tourney to recover and they still couldn't do it.
All good points. And not to say Tinsley did anything wrong either, but if there is one player in Iowa State history whose play could take down the whole team it would be him. Tinsley made that team what it was.
True but it makes no sense to make a big moneyline bet and hope one player can unobviously throw a game against a clearly inferior opponenet. Keeping a game from being a blowout and actually throwing a game are 2 completely different animals.
JT didn't miss all of the free throws so if the game was fixed JT wasn't the lone gunman.

That entire team was spent. They played way above their heads that season and their lack of talent and quality depth caught up to them. They were exposed in a road loss to Texas and were shaky from then on. They lost to Baylor in their first game of the Big 12 tournament.
I loved watching him play at ISU, but as one of the last Pacer fans, I have to say that guy was an absolute cancer. He, Stephen Jackson, and Ron Artest set that franchise back almost a decade with all their BS.
Who's idea was it to put those 3 guys on the same team?
I highly doubt Tinsley threw any game but it is a possibility.
Everybody seems to remember Tinsley missing the last second layup.
What people don't remember about the Hampton game is this:
We had a 1-pt lead with over 30-secs remaining. Ham missed a shot and Tinsley got the long rebound and took it down court.
He had no rebounders, a one point lead and the ball in his hands. And he launched a 15-foot shot that clanked ?$?#?$. All he had to do was dribble out the clock, or wait for Ham to foul him.
Instead, Ham grabs the rebound and proceeds to score. Then we're left with Tinsley having to go the entire length of the court in under 5 sec only to miss the final lay up.

What others have failed to remember is that Tinsley played like that for his entire time at ISU. He often took a shot when conventional wisdom was to sit on the ball. More times than not he got an uncontested look or layup because it was unexpected and this resulted in putting away several games. Unfortunately you live by the sword, you die by the sword.
If you are running a point shaving operation where you're betting the money line on a 15 seed over a 2 seed, you are just begging to get busted.

So let me get this straight.....i dont even know if his layup would or would not have effected betting stances. But ill play along....and lets say it did.
So in order for him to throw it i have to believe that if he made the layup...he would have made ISU on the wrong side of the bet.
Assuming that....you really think to do that...he decided to drive full length of the court, past several defenders and lay a ball up that just did trickle off the side of the rim??
For what? Buyability?
Give me a break...he could have just made a poor pass off the drive, or double pumped and missed wildly or a million other undetectable ways. Probably not going to risk it by putting one up on the rim that almost goes in.

I recall LE stated that he didn't expect the team to win the Big12 regular season with those players but the players overachieved so much.
The memory of Big12 Tourney wasn't really pleasant. A classmate said "we're going to KC on Thursday evening although the team play in the afternoon. They'll win the game anyway so we'll watch the semi-final". No one thought how wrong she would be.
In all fairness....He was there before them...He was fine before those 2 ended up on the roster
