Tiger's swing

This. People have no idea the elevation change on that property, TV does that zero justice you have to see it in person.

I have walked this course as a spectator and it is not easy. Just standing on some of the slopes will wear on you.

I would imagine he has an army of therapists and technology to help him recover each night and I would bet against his shear will to get through it.

Come on, insane hills? Are any of you people golfers? I guess I've played Waveland in Des Moines more than any other course, and Augusta has lots of undulation, but not sure I'd say INSANE hills!
Agreed. Waveland is hilly. Also, any course over in Eagle Ridge in Galena. Gotta make sure your legs are ready.

Or take a cart and drink a lot of beer.

What’s with the fascination calling this place insanely hilly. I understand it has its up and downs and odd angles and lots of walking but it’s a golf course for ***** sake. He’s not climbing a mountain. The walk and hilly course won’t be what does him if, if so, it will be he hasn’t played in well over a year.

I think some golf enthusiasts love overplaying the role of walking, and I say that as the guy who always tried to get my group to walk rather than use a cart. Yeah it exists, but it’s not a huge deal outside of an extreme case like Casey Martin.

Really interested to see what Tiger’s avg driving distance is. They have lengthened a couple of already tough holes. If he’s hitting 5 iron where a guy like DJ is hitting 7iron, that’s going to be tough. Tiger is the best iron player ever, especially long irons, but there’s a limit. If he’s averaging in the 280’s for driving distance he’s closer to Bernhardt Langer than than the DJ’s.

Golf Channel had him carrying 291-305 yds on the practice tee with driver on about 20 swings.

I had a 3D TV one year when they broadcast it in 3D, and TV did give it justice in 3D. It was incredible.

I haven't been there, but have friends who have. I'm pretty sure every PGA golfer who has played it says it is the toughest walk of any course on the tour.

The average 18 hole yard course in Iowa is at least 6 miles walking. For a course like Augusta, there is greater distance between holes and they are not easy, too. So Tiger will be walking around 30 miles for four days. That's a lot to ask your body after what he has been through. It would be a miracle if he was driving 300 yards on the back nine of rounds three and four. Even then, he probably won't be able to hit any par 5s in two.

The city courses in Sioux City are the place for local snowboarders 5 months a year.

I’m sure Augusta is a hilly course by elite standards, just the course I grew up on outside my best friend’s backyard was basically alpine sports worthy.

Totally forgot about these courses. I learned to play with the grandpa primarily at Floyd.

I agree with your premise, but disagree with your comment on the par 5s. He will still easily get to 13 in two. Both 2 and 8 are holes that a good chunk of the field won’t hit in two, so I’m not sure it’s much of a disadvantage. It remains to be seen how 15 will play this year, but depending on the pin location, he’s almost better laying up for a wedge third shot.

Pros have it easy. Try carrying your own clubs and zig-zagging from one side of the fairway to the other every hole for 18 holes.

I went to Monday's practice round. Its pretty hilly. Walking, with a caddy carrying your bag, wouldn't be that bad. I also don't have surgically reconstructed leg(s) like Tiger.
