Oklahoma is building a new dorm that will house athletes and honor students right across the street from the stadium . I think it is supposed to be a breeding program for smarter athletes in the future.
I have to admit, that was pretty cool, but it had a lot of similarities to ISU’s practice facility only with the dorms added on. Personally, especially if I were an upper classmen player, I would want the freedom to live in my own apartment instead of being required to live in the dorm. I could see how it serves as a benefit to the coaches and team though.
ISU rarely recruits against Kansas. This won't hurt them at all.
A dorm like this is way different than and dorm you or I stayed in. Also, I'm sure each player has their own room.
Dandy, Your not the only one to post this... But this is flat out not true. We do come up against Kansas in basketball recruiting a lot.
Tyrone Appleton, Raef Lafrentz, Kirk Hinrich, Jeff Graves, Harrison Barnes, Rashad Vaughn, Cheick Diallo, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk. Just to name a few.
I would be annoyed more so by the fact that you wouldn’t have much personal space and would spend the majority of your time in one building. The dorms did look very nice though.
We may not compete with the recruits, but it could mean better recruiting than they already have.
Who recruits better than KU? Duke and Kentucky? I'm sure they already have something similar anyway.
My dorm room at ISU was incredible! I just had to use a little design magic. Every bit as good as the ones shown here. 
Getting the athletes to spend all their time in one building is a big part of why these are being built (in addition to helping recruiting). It's like a player's lounge on steroids. Guys spend all their time there with their teammates building up relationships and not getting in trouble elsewhere.
I agree with you though, it would suck as an upperclassman when you want to branch out, or hell, you might be getting married and/or have kids.
Ive been inside the UK facilities several times over the last 5 years or so. They are unbelievable.
