This team is pissed off, hungry, and together

Or get your whole football program penalized in 1986 if you use it to buy a recruit a Big Mac.
Next stop: Iowa City

And the 'almost beat AZ' thing doesn't hold up one week later either.

They'll need to be sharp and play within themselves Friday.

The Arizona State game in Kansas City was the most heartening in this regard. It’s a weird thing to get amped to play a team you beat by more than 20 four days earlier, but they were absolutely relentless on defense. I would expect to see that Friday. The only thing I’d say is if Tennessee State is kind of small their guards may just run in circles and throw off rotations for a little bit at the beginning of the game. You see that a lot when mid major guards realize they may only make it to the hoop like three times all game due to a high seed’s size. But I won’t worry unless Iowa State is coughing the ball up

I’d love an elite 8 just to get over the proverbial sweet 16 hump.
I would honestly say it would be a bit of a disappointment if we don't make it to an elite 8. We are a 2 seed with a relatively healthy team. We need to play up to our seed line.

Little known fact: I was not around for ISU's last Final Four appearance.
I too, was not around for our last Final Four appearance....it also bothered me that Jon Rothstein on a bracket analysis show for CBSSN said that Iowa State had never made a Final Four before........TECHNICALLY speaking we have...yes, the tournament was only 8 teams but if other teams can claim natty's from when the tournament had 8 teams, then we can claim a Final Four from 1944.

It was just so much more difficult to get in the field. Then they still had to win against a top in the nation team to get to the Final Four.

On his printed version he did pick ISU..
Is this one of those meant Cyclones but say Hawkeye things we hear from time to time?
Yes, he talks about Iowa State and Arizona "in a reprise of that conference tournament semi-final game that some are calling the best game of the season." But then goes on to say that Arizona once again hands a loss to the Hawkeyes.

That's a darn good point. Coming into the season, I was hoping Buchanan could be a rob Jones type player and I hoped that pleta wasn't another Greek freak bust. They're so far beyond that now. Toure was an absolute stud early then hit a wall. Nelson had a run then fizzled. All of this makes me appreciate the coaches more than anything.
And after trying to climb that wall, Toure has now decided to just break through the wall like the Kool Aid man!

I feel like they approached that game like everything that they wanted was on the other side of ASU and they weren't about to let ASU stand in the way of it.

don’t want a Hampton or UAB repeat, but if ISU can beat AZst by 49 and TTU by 24, Tennessee St should be game over at halftime. They are ranked 187 in Kenpom. Play Tamin 16 minutes. Play Jefferson 18 minutes.
We do not speak of that team.

I didn’t look up the score, but off memory didn’t we only give up like 60 points to UAB?
Went back and looked and you're right. Final score 60-59 UAB. Both teams were abysmal FG% and 3PT% wise, and we got crushed on the glass.

But I don't think it was due to great D from either team. We took the lead late and couldn't hold on because our D could not get stops when we needed them. Naz missed a 3 late that would've tied it up if memory serves. Niang had a pretty awful game too I believe.
