This is my first Big 12 tourney and I've only been to KC once in my life many years ago. Are there any Restaurants of places that I should see while not watching the Cyclones march their way through the Bracket?

Kelly's is an old Cyclone hangout in Westport. There's quite a few bars in that little area, including a piano bar. There's a get-together there 5-9 PM Wednesday. Bar Louie is the designated Cyclone hangout near the Power & Light District. Anywhere in the P&L District should be a good time this week/weekend.

*Sorry my entertainment is geared towards the Cyclones and drinking. Hahaha....

If you're interested in doing something that's off the typical eat, drink, basketball beaten track check out the WW1 national museum. It's very well done, and was designed by the same people that did the Holocaust Museum in DC.

Some traditional eats. I love Oklahoma Joes or Gates for some good KC BBQ.

Power and Light is a great time for the bar scene.

I wish you guys wouldn't tell people to go to Oklahoma Joes. When I'm driving close by, I always stop for a z-man and the line is long enough, we don't need half of CF showing up there.

how is the country club plaza area? will there be fans in that area as well?
Stayed in the area for a chiefs game last fall, the shopping was underwhelming, but there are decent restaurants in the area. The Jack Stack there was awesome, went to Aurther Bryants and hated it. More expensive than jack stack, food didn't taste as good, looked like a dump. It may be more "authentic", but my wife and I didn't care for it.

Steamboat Arabia museum is really cool.
I concur. Even more impressive that it's totally private--and when we went the main guy who found and excavated it was there to answer questions at the end of the tour. Steamboat Arabia Museum

Some pretty good art museums if you're into that sort of thing--Nelson-Atkins is the big one, or there's a Kemper one that I'm pretty sure is free.

Can't help much with food around downtown. Was fairly impressed with Jerusalem Cafe and Blanc blanc burgers + bottles when down there visiting friends. Had some good Indian food in Westport, too, but don't remember what the place was called.

I enjoy Gates BBQ personally.

I feel like a Cyclone degenerate ... but Ive never been to Kelly's. Is it far from the downtown area? Easy cab ride?

I've taken a cab from downtown to Kelly's a few times and it ranges from $8 to $11 per cab ride. Not bad at all. I recommend a cab, parking can be a little tricky and it certainly lessons buzzed driving.
