So... hard to tell, but either OU knew the PAC was going to say no today (hence all the b12 talk) or OU knew they were going to be able to work out a deal and informed the PAC they wouldnt be coming, leading to the PAC's announcement earlier tonight.

Much like coaches who suddenly 'arent interested in the position'

Pac-12 Conference: League announces it will NOT expand (updated) | College Hotline

Been on the phone for last 30 minutes. Here’s why league did not expand, in a nutshell:

It determined that a 14-school conference was awkward and it would not bow to Texas’ revenue demands.

According to a source, Larry Scott walked away from weekend meeting with Texas knowing the Longhorn Network and the Pac-12 revenue model could not work together.

It was zero or four and the four was too problematic — no interest in meeting UT’s revenue demands — so it’s at zero, which is where the CEOs wanted to be all along.

thanks for clarifying Boren's comments, appears we have 1 of 2 possibilities, OU gets its demands, we get a new commish, we get some trust rebuilt in the conference over whatever timeline is agreed or we go through this again once the power players figure out what the threat of lawsuit really means...screw A&M I hope they still get sued, not sure what the damages will be if we replace them, but I am feeling a lot of punitive damages for putting everyone through this again...

If texas has no PAC option to leave if they dont like it, what can they do if the other conference members vote in what the rules are going to be.

Texas will always have a great landing spot, but why leave when you don't have to share revenues equally?

Gotta love how OU says they were looking to get out of the Big 12 because of the instability when they were the reason there was the current instability.

Now they will say they want to set the Big 12 up for long-term stability. Yet they nor Texas will want to tie themselves to the conference long-term so they'll give themselves outs after 5 years...

Has this been posted?

The source also said if Beebe was removed (it is believed Boren has enough votes to make that happen), Boren would agree to a 10-team Big 12 that included BYU, TCU or Air Force, or a 12-team league that included all three.

In 5 years we should have the new tier 1 contract done shouldnt we? That should do a lot for keeping things together long-run.

That's when the ESPN contract is up for renegotiation. If the rumors that TX made a pitch to Delaney and that it was long range planned out to 2016...that could be a thorn in our side in our negotiations if there is perceived instability at that time...

The best chance at stability is to kick Texas out, get A&M back in and expand to 12 adding tv sets from the big east. Revenue sharing, network, etc. Texas is still going to act like an independent and are untrustworthy. I would welcome them right out of the conference. Really, do we have any choice unless the big ten is waiting for us? I mean OU and Texas are meeting to decide everyone's fate? Doesn't sound like progress to me.

If we expand to 12 - does this affect our revenue? Unless we say not til the Tier 1 deal is up...

TCU is definitely the slutty girl on campus. SWC to WAC to Conf. USA to Mountain West to Big East to Big 12? All within the past 20 years.

I don't mind the five year deal. Most of that is because of where I think we will be in 5 years. The most important thing will be that we have a our big projects paid for. I think we will see enough on field success to put us in a much better position. Besides that the adjustments made could turn us into a version of the Big 10 in terms of stability. 5 years is really an eternity in college sports anymore. Just look at the last two years.
