*****The Super, Mega, Huge Big 12 Expansion Thread*****

SEC statement did include the words "at this time" or something similar that was clearly absent from the Pac-12 statement.
could it be that everyone realized the Big 10 IS NOT expanding right now and then thought - wow maybe superconferences aren't inevitable, and maybe we aren't going to get more money just by virtue of adding some more teams?

this thread sucks

With Big East deciding to remain together tonight and invite new schools, if we assume that Big East schools are not available, who do we add to get back to 10 or to 12?

BYU
Boise State
Air Force
other ideas????

I know Big East schools saying they will remain doesn't mean they won't listen and ultimately join Big 12, but for sake of discussion, if Big East teams are out who would you add to the Big 12?

I would rather not have a community college in our conference. We don't need to dumb down our conference anymore than it already is. We have Tech and K State for that already.

There is no way we can go back to the status quo after this. I think fan base of every team in the B12 has been in an uproar since this began and we all know why: LHN has gotta go.

At very least the other 8 (plus whoever we add) should create their own network.

I dont believe comments by Larry Scott but I believe comments by the PAC presidents and this press release came from them.

I think its funny how we will believe the brainiacs in California when they say the don't want to expand, but we know the dirty scum bags in the SEC are lying when they say they don't want to expand.

When A&M receives the waivers it needs which I expect to happen soon, please close this thread. I'd be fine to see it deleted.

Pac-12 decision came down Scott meeting with Texas and realizing there was no way the conference could be one of equals. So they passed.

@Jake_Trotter: Been told this Pac-12 announcement has more to do w/ Texas than OU, but OU clearly missed its chance. Sounds like the best of the B12 ironically had Texas' greed to thank.

DePaul has a better chance of starting a football team and moving up to a BCS conference than Boise State does. Sounds like hyperbole but it's all really that stupid.

The Big East is down to 7 members after TCU joins, and FBS newbie Villanova will belong to a BCS conference while SMU, Hawaii, Boise State, Nevada, Fresno State, Houston, Southern Miss, UCF, and BYU don't. Makes perfect sense.

The BE needs one more team no matter what. Who do they get? I think they will grab either UCF or ECU, maybe both. I ask, because we might have a fight over teams left.

We first take BYU. I could see us sit for a year or two to get contracts/ tv network started and then go after a couple BEs or an AF and best of the remainders. The Pitt/Cuse thing really whacks us a little. If we go after their teams now, that might topple their conference and we look like the sec.

I do hope academics are considered some. I really don't want a thug school with the image of Miami running around our conference. We already have tech and k state, don't want more.

Yeah, this isn't totally over, there's still a bit of a concern about the SEC possibly poaching teams, but we're still in better shape than before.
