The fat lady isn't singing yet...

Add Iowa to the list for 4th quarter blown leads. UNI, KSU, BU, OSU, EIU. That's what bothers me the most.

The Iowa loss was more like ISU's typical KSU loss. Had them 3rd and 12 on their own end, let them get out of the hole then a couple guys gets out of alignment, miss a tackle and give up a 50 yard play with 12 more missed tackles. A lot of the other games ISU had stupid turnovers or just got run over when guys got tired.

In the end, no matter what, ISU has to get better. I think the athletes are getting better, just need to get their act together on the field for 4 quarters.

This is the lifelong Cyclone in me talking:

The season is over. In week 4. Again.

Before Thursday, 6-6 was a possibility. Now, I think 4-8, possibly even 3-9 is likely.

The cultural issues are still there. We saw a talented QB become a headcase. Again. It won't cure itself overnight. I saw something else I never thought I'd see: Matt Campbell became a complete and total *****, punting twice inside the opponent's 40. He also failed to get the ball to our best player, which would have taken some pressure off said headcase QB. I saw a coach who, for the first time in MY opinion, looked like he was in completely over his head.

Part of this is just me venting. I hope I'm wrong. But right now, the Cyclone in me says this culture change is nothing more than lip service.

We played tough with a Texas team that is easily top 5 roster in talent and athleticism that showed up to play with something to prove.

Would have much rather Texas won at USC then they wouldnt have been near as hungry and determined.

I honestly think we could surprise OU. This could be a trap game for them looking ahead to the Red River game.

I hate to say it, but I agree.

Yes we are better than we were last September. Hard for anyone to convince me we are a better than last October or November though. I'm hoping we make a jump again this month like we did last year at this time.

Perfectly put. Perhaps more crisp than the UNI game and some players like Lanning have gotten settled in, but right now it feels like just another ISU season to me.

If there's not a big jump like last year excitement is going to fade quickly.

OSU Tech score was much closer than the game really was. OSU went up and down the field with ease all game long but shot themselves in the foot time after time. I think Tech is very beatable but OSU will be very tough.

I still think OSU is a contender for the Big 12 championship even though a lot of people are writing them off right now. They are absolutely loaded with talent.

Agree, culture change should be lead by the head coach and punting inside the 40 twice shows a lack of guts/faith - hell at least try a field goal.

We've already blown two of our best chances at wins. Manning better not have anymore games like Thursday.

Likely, but not sold. Either TT is legitimate and we're screwed either way, or OSU is a fraud - and we almost beat them at their house last year.

As far as K-State, they lost to freaking Vanderbilt and didn't have an easy time with Baylor, not to mention 9 of the last 10 years we've been within one score of them. Not ready to put that in the L column yet.

Tech is not legitimate by any means. Their Iowa transfer QB is horrible.
I actually think that is a game your QB will look good again like he did in your three previous games before UT.
Like I said the only games unwinnable for ISU are K State and TCU. That still means you have a chance to win but one that is very small.
The games that you need a lot to go right are OU and Okie State. Both teams will try to push tempo like ISU so it comes down to QB play and turnovers.
Have not seen WVU.
BU and KU look like winnable games right now for ISU.

It is still possible for you to go 2-2 against WVU, Tech, OU and Okie Lite and still make a bowl.
Just as long as you beat KU and Baylor.

Let's make Baylor 0-12 this year.
Wouldn't that be amazing for their victims

This team is better than last years. It does seem the most of the rest of the conference has taken bigger steps forward than ISU has. It is going to be a battle to get to 5 wins at this point. The way the conference is set up now, has made it even harder than before to build a program.

Before Texas I was thinking 6 wins, but right now it's looking more like 4. Just an awfully sour taste in my mouth from that game and it's only going to feel worse after this Saturday. Not a great stretch in the schedule with a bye week, a loss on a Thursday night and a trip to Norman the week after. Just feels really strange after all of the optimism to start the year.

I like your optimism . . . but I guess I just need to see more after the last game.

You lost me at K-State not being a winnable game.

Improvement for me this year was a bowl game. We needed either Iowa or Texass to most likely get there.
The fat lady isn't singing yet about not planning for bowl game airline tickets, but she definitely is warming up.

The 2 punts you mention are what is still sticking with me as much as anything. How many times have we heard this coaching staff talk about all the play makers we have on offense, and yet that's the message you send to your players and fan base when the lights are on? If you're serious about changing the culture, you can't play scared. That, and Montgomery getting 10 touches or whatever the hell it was are inexcusable.

You lost me at K-State not being a winnable game.

K State will play you like UT did.
K State will make Park look horrible and control the ball. Their offense is a more efficient than UT's at this point even if they lack the talent.
I may be wrong and ISU will be able to put up points against K State very much like they did Iowa.
If you think that Iowa St is in a position to play with K State right now and has a chance greater than 20% to win that game you might be looking through Cyclone glasses

K State lost to Vandy and was in a one score game with Baylor at home...Iowa State invents ways to lose to them, but they are not unbeatable by any stretch.
