To the OP, I wish you the best. It took me 15 years to find a career I got really jazzed about. Along the way, I quit my job with no plan 3 times, including the last one a month after having a kid and closing on a house (my wife is a saint). I make a 3rd of what I used to and have had to adjust my lifestyle considerably, but I knew I didn't want my daughter growing up with a father who was beaten down. I am a much better person for it now and don't regret it at all.

As others have said, life is too short and we spend too much time at our jobs to be unhappy. That said, it's not always as simple as finding another job. It took me a lot of self-reflection and hard questions. But happiness is worth the risk.
