Going to Austin for the first time for the game in October. Tickets through ISU are $100 which I think is pretty pricey. is it better to buy tickets in the secondary market or just spend the $100 through ISU?

Did you see the new about Texas having $160 million in athletic revenue? They don't get that by giving their tickets away.

You want a bargain, try to find a Texas friend who wants to "enjoy" the game by watching you watch us lose.

Maybe the better question is what sections are the visitors in? One website had the visitors in about 10 different sections with some being in the upper corner. If I am dropping $100 I don't want to need an oxygen tank to survive the game

According to the UT seating diagram, sections 32 ($100), and 119-123 ($55). It doesn't look like they have any "tier 2" ($75) seats for visitors. So you can sit 2 miles away from the field for $55, or lower level past the end zone for $100.

Scalp tickets but wait for the game to start at the stadium. You can get great seats at much lower prices as I can't imagine they will sell out 110,000 seats or so for this game. This is how I did it a couple of years ago but I was willing to wait until the National Anthem was over. We got to sit on the Texas side about 40 rows up for $30/ticket on the 45 yard line!

That's what makes us Iowans interesting. Farm boys tend to be a bit frugal.....:)

Plan to go again this year. The tickets we had in 2012 were sideline endzone corner and I think that was the only visitor section.

You might have a heart attack from the beating we're most likely going to receive. Better not count that oxygen tank out.

ISU kicked Texas' butt in 2010 in Austin. I was there, we dominated, Garrett Gilbert was getting lit up.
ISU got screwed last year in Ames, should have won.

Have some pride in your team.

I'm going down there too with a group of friends. Any idea what's going on in Austin that weekend besides the game? Hotel prices around 6th street are 300/night minimum right now.

I'll be down there with my dad. He was there in the visitor's section 2010. I have been to a lot of games at DKR but it will be my first time in the visitor's section.

You're better off taking the price now, or chancing that they might lost a couple and the value will go way down last minute.
