Pretty weak connection IMO.

I wasn't talking about a DeLorean. That's a real car.

While I kind of like the design, I also think this is going to get tweaked between now and the end of 2021 when it goes into production. The way Elon talked last night, this is very much still a concept. But it is a radically different way to build a truck than in the past. And that is what Elon is for. Bring forth new ideas that change the status quo.

....
Also, the quoted price is pretty great when you compare to other trucks out there costing more than a college education.

Is Elon still getting tax dollars to keep list prices down and his company afloat?

I should have added that this probably will hinge on if Elon can get it in the commercial vehicle world on board. The mileage numbers are pretty insane for the price point especially compared to Rivian. If Telsa can move into the utility truck world, which is possible, this will go well for them. Also, there is military application to that truck, so don't count out the US military.

Biggest issue I have is not having accessibility to the side of the box. I can see how people who rarely use the back of their truck may like it though.

I am sure it will be nice for delivery or maybe a foreman, but not for the service types. Perhaps they can offer an alternate box.

Musk has become a caricature. His ego requires constant media attention so he shows off numerous "concepts" without the ability to bring them to market.

I used to work in the solar industry and one of the biggest issues we had was explaining to consumers that the latest greatest thing, they saw Musk show off, is not available for sale and likely won't be for a long time, if ever. His solar company is a giant suck hole of money and liabilities.

In regards to Tesla, that is normal, if not advisable, for an industry that’s completely dependent on branding. The cars are great in their own right, but imo many owners wouldn’t have taken the leap had it been a car from the Big 3.

Let’s not pretend releasing concepts that are slow, or never make it to market, is only a Tesla thing.

It took the Big 3 flipping years to even put airbags in cars.

500 miles on a charge is pretty dang good. If you can get from LA to Vegas on a charge then I'm interested

I like Elon, but looks to me like a city boy designed a truck not knowing what truck drivers want in a truck. Should have watched a few less movies and visited a few more farms.

It's called going broke. He is throwing more and more desperation Hail Mary's to raise a few bucks. And people wonder why I wanted to short Tesla. I mean what was this steel can, the Flat Earth guy built a better looking (and functioning rocket).

A little side bar....

Was watching CNBC yesterday. They described this truck as looking like something from Blade Runner.

Some (correctly) said that might not be the right look for the middle of America

Another guy said he didn't think Midwesterners even knew about the movie Blade Runner. Come on. I'm not a fan of the Midwest and this is garbage looking truck, but we have access to 30 year old movies.
