Not sure what I was looking for either it's not like I'm changing your minds with my "tech is better than what you think" talk. I guess one question I have is how much is your o dependent on Niang? I think we have a guy that will give him fits

Nobody on Illinois, Oklahoma, Colorado, Iowa, or Cincinnati had a guy that gave Niang fits. I really don't think Texas Tech is going to be the team that finally shuts him down.

Tech's looking like they could be a bubble team. I think ISU will win by 7 or 8. ISU 80 - Tech 72

We should be favored to win and we should win every big 12 game in January. If we don't it won't be the end of the world, but we would have fallen short of expectations and that will be disappointing.

ah yes....the "should win" every game in January or you've "fallen short" angle again. Smh. Idk, I watched a heck of a basketball game between the No.1 and 2 teams in the country last night. Think its more fair to say we "can" win every big12 game.

Look at our schedule in January in the Big 12, and tell me where I'm wrong.

So, you're trying to tell me that "should win" is the same as "can win"? Hmmm....
I feel like you have trouble with nuance in posts. His premise is the same as yours. You are arguing over semantics.

I was one of the few in November saying Tech is better than people thought and better than they were last year. Glad others have come around and realize Tech is a quality team.

Like Pride said, confidence is key. I also think playing Tech now, when they're confident and winning games, could prove harder than playing them in late February or March when they might be beaten down and possibly out of NCAA Tourney contention. I think it's more likely though that they'll be close to or be a true bubble team come selection Sunday though with 7 - 8 Big XII regular season wins.

Will be a tough game and I hope the crowd is loud and involved from the tip - which usually isn't the case when the students are gone and most of the fan base thinks a game will be a cakewalk.

First of all, what does semantics have to do with it? Secondly, I'm not arguing. I was simply pointing out that saying a team "should win or they've fallen below expectations" is a little cut and dried steep, especially when two of those games are against two of the top elite teams in the country.

I would like us to get up by 10 early, hold the lead, and give Hallice and Simeon plenty of minutes to work into their places on the team. We may need both alot as the season goes on.

We play @Texas a week from tonight as well.

Yep, completely overlooked that. I guess that would be one could go either way, and we may or may not be favored going into that. Based on that, 1 more loss in January if it's @ Texas wouldn't be too unexpected if we play like crap.

Simeon Carter is not going to play unless we are playing Coppin St. or a similarly skilled team. As far as the 2015-16 season, his "place on the team" is that of a walk-on. That's not a rip on Carter. It's just obvious he's not ready to play at a high level, and Prohm is comfortable playing his top 7. Give it up, people.

If ISU only has one more loss in January, I will be ecstatic. That would mean we've won 3 out of 4 road games (two games of which will be against likely NCAA Tourney participants[A&M and UT]) and beaten two top ten teams at home. I suggest some of you try to realize how awesome that is rather than expecting these kinds of results.

We're living in a great time to be a Cyclone basketball fan. Enjoy it!

Why? We never foul. If we get an injury AND we get foul trouble, which won't happen regularly, then we might need them.

I was only talking big 12 games in January. My point was that we should be favored in every game in January vs big 12 competition. But I overlooked Texas, so that changes things. I actually think we lose the @A&M game.

And, also just to avoid any confusion, when I speculate that we need to win the games in January, I am talking from the perspective of what we need to do in order to win the big 12. If we're talking about 3rd place, then the bar goes down.
