i know many people hated the use of Thunderstruck for our entrance, I know it wasn't my first choice. But, if we're going to do it, we might as well do it right. I think there is a way to do this in a way that is much more effective at pumping up the crowd.

I think we need to make the shouting of "Thunder" more of a thing with crowd participation. First, the band has got to stop playing their drum cadence while the hype video is playing. They either need to stop playing sooner, or they need to start the video later. It destroys the impact to have them both going at once.

Get the "thunderstruck" opening going, but urge the audience to shout along with "Thunder" with white flashes on the big screens and ribbon board. Maybe use lightning graphics on the screens as well. Build this up, enhance the "Thunder" chant with big rhythmic bass hits until........"you been.........thunderstruck!" Followed by cannon pull, bright flashes from video boards and flame throwers on full blast as the team runs out of the smoke, flags waving and crowd cheering.

We seem to really be playing up the "storm" aspect of our identity far more than ever in the past. Owning the "Thunder" chant at the opening of that song and making it our thing could really be something cool, and unique to ISU. Oh, and crank it up.....we took a big step forward in atmosphere today with the pumped up sound system. We need to keep that up!

I don't think the students would get involved, since they evidently want to stand with their arms crossed and do nothing.

Joking aside, yeah that would be awesome

I don't see the students just standing around. When there is reason to be excited, they seem to get pretty pumped. The on field product just is not conducive to consistently getting excited. Yesterday, I got to the point on 3rd and 1 that I stopped participating because I knew they were going to get just enough for the first down. Currently, the start of the game has huge potential because hope abounds. Unfortunately, the current entrance sequence feels a bit disconnected.

If the students get into freaking Neil Diamond, I would hope they could get into stomping their feet, pumping their fist and shouting "Thunder" a few times before the team enters the field to explosions and flashes of "lightning".

I think people should simply be in the stands when the team enters instead of rolling in halfway through the first quarter. We have great tailgating, but we do not have great atmosphere ten minutes before kickoff. Seemed better last year.

And the team is not winning. I get it.

I think that the opposing team needs to be on the field before the pump up video comes on. I find it dumb that the students are booing during that video .

There just seems to be too much happening with the band playing the cadence tiring to make the "tunnel" over the start of the pump up video, the opposing team getting on field while having to cross to the opposite side, and the fog machine going off. There is no rhyme or reason to it, and thus it looses any impact or pageantry it could ever have. There has to be a way to time it so the band pregame ends, opposing team enters, pump up video plays followed by "thunderstruck". Culminating in Bon Scott's line " you've been.......thunderstruck". BOOM.......cannon goes off, flames blow up and the team enters.

I understand the desire to say Cyclone Power instead of Thunder during the entrance buildup. But I think saying "thunder" connects to the who storm theme and is a more intimidating option. You tie into our Cyclone thing without literally saying Cyclone".

Off on a tangent: Wish the team would enter the field in a tight group (like KSU does) rather than trailing in over several minutes nearly single file. IMO, we look like a disorganized rabble rather than a team with a purpose. And, maybe it would help students and fans focus on raising the roof with the entire team in front of us at once.

I'm pretty sure we can't tell the opposing teams when to come out. Like the reasons behind your idea though

Not me. I think the way KSU and Iowa enter in a tight group looks dumb. Let the kids just run out and excited.

I agree about coming in together. I love that Iowa and KSU do it.

Also, the freaking flames haven't worked ONE time this season. Get that fixed or don't roll them out there every game

I don't know about you folks, but I usually listen to the Murph and Andy show every day during work and I swear every time I hear Thunderstruck my brain automatically thinks "Thunderhead 3 point play!"
