Tang gonna Tang

i don't see how they rebound. they are all in on buying players from out of program instead of developing culture. and they just cant compete doing that. they are set to go dormant for a while.
What's ol' Tang got left on his contract?

he just reupped before last season when he leveraged the arkansas interest into an extension. honestly this is less salary than i expected. most big 12 coaches make this or more dont they?

The new contract replaces his original 6-year deal that Tang agreed to become the 25th men's basketball coach in school history on March 21, 2022. Tang now has 7 years left on his agreement that runs until April 30, 2030. The second-year head coach will be paid $3 million in 2023-24 and receive a $100,000 increase to his salary in each remaining contract year culminating in a $3.6 million base for the 2029-30 season. There are also four retention bonuses of $200,000 following the 2023-24, 2024-25, 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons.

His regression each season is something:

Year one: Elite 8 (not his players still a great season)
Year two: NIT and lose first round
Year three: Under .500 overall (16-17) and no postseason
Year four (current year): 5-2 with a 16 point loss to Bowling Green. At home.

him and keyontae johnson. a couple 3 and d guys, a rim protector. their roster construction has been so bad since. they buy one high priced player, some side kicks, and wonder why they have no team unity. it looks like a teenager pimping out their ****** ride with some kick ass rims.

They are also buried under a couple of big buyouts. It can still get uglier.
for sure. makes one really appreciate JP and his fiscal responsibility. its really easy for an AD to sink and entire athletic department in a hurry these days when some schools can fork out 50 million dollar buyouts without blinking while others are scraping together 10-15 million dollar budgets for their annual coaches salaries for all sports.
