It's my first time going to a game at KU and i was just wondering what lots were the best to be in for tailgating purposes?

I have suite tickets for this one, Will be in lot 90 to party with the cardinal and gold faithful, GO CLONES!

Sounds like lot 90 is the place to be. How long of a walk is it to the stadium from that lot?

That lot is a long way from the stadium. It is tough to find a wheat field around Lawrence. There is a lot of well cultivated weed however.

I wouldn't recommend Lot 90 unless you have a shuttle or other transportation to take you over to the game. It's probably at least a mile, and hilly. I bet you can get a spot on the Hill, just South of the stadium, that would serve your purposes a lot better.

Is the Hill pretty easy to get to? We are driving in from KC.

Eh 1 mile really isn't that bad. I normally walk over half a mile at Iowa State tailgates

(EDIT: See post below mine)

I think it'd be just as easy to park on the parking ramp at the Student Union, which is within a three iron of the stadium, and go walk over to the hill.

Here's a map of the area. The ramp is SE of the practice fields. The hill is South of the stadium (and North of the Campanile), but any of that land around the stadium (it's all a little hilly) would be a fine tailgating area for ISU fans. There's enough apathy among KU fans at this point that there should be plenty of room on the hill. And I doubt the parking lot and field event area that's East of the Stadium is completely full - although those may be reserved spots - if you want something a little flatter.

From that google map, you can search Lot 90 (it's the big lot East of the baseball field - I used to park there for BB games and law school). It's certainly not a lot I would have ever considered parking in for a football game, but I suppose you could do it. (There may actually be a free shuttle run by KU from there to the stadium but don't hold me to that.)

If anyone needs any more information about Lawrence, I lived there for 21 years, so let me know if I can help.

There are shuttles that go from the stadium to lot 90 so nobody has to worry about the long distance.

Going with a few others, and I think our plan was to hit up Mass Street around noon for lunch and drinks, and then kind of work our way over to the stadium. Lot 90 would be fun, and we know a few folks on the CF charter, but that's the complete opposite direction.

Where are most Cyclone fans going to be sitting for this game? I'm planning on getting some tickets from StubHub where they are super cheap right now but would like to not sit amongst a gaggle of Jayhawks.

The CF Group and the Gridiron Club will be in sections 25 and 26 I believe.

Yes, the CF Group will be in lot 90. With the 3 large charter buses and over 150+ people, it's the most realistic place for us to park and tailgate. I know the other groups that are coming down for the game are parking there as well so I would guess we will have 300+ Cyclone fans in that lot. Should be a lot of fun

What time is tailgating start there. Researching their game day procedures, it says to alcohol until 3 hours before kick off. Will we be able to tailgate before 3?

Has anyone here ever tailgated in Lawrence?

I'm trying to get some info on their board, and its devolved into them beating me over the head about how awesome KU tailgating is after someone told me it was way better than ISU or KSU and I said I had a hard time believing it. They've all flipped out now.

It looks like its just like Iowa, with less fan interest. The lots near the stadium appear to be all donor lots, and after that you're parking in someone's yard and going to a house party. I've literally never heard ANYONE rave about KU tailgating.

That seems unlikely just based on number of fans attending games.
