NBA: T-Wolves Butler situation

What's funny is that Butler is too stupid to realize that going out and acting like this is the best thing he can do to stay stuck in Minnesota for the whole year. What team is going to want to bring on a guy that acts like a 2 year old and is a total cancer to your team?

All you can do is hope for the worst for someone like this.

The timberwolves did, because this isn't the only team he has been a cancer too, and they traded for him.

Agreed. I'd put him somewhere between 15 and 20. I think he could be the second or third best player on a championship team. But he seems to think of himself a little more highly than that, and there's the problem. Any franchise that builds around him as the centerpiece has a ceiling of maybe a conference semifinals appearance.
Completely agree, that's what I viewed the Wolves as potentially this year if Butler would have returned to the team without all of this BS that's been going on

I say this as a T-Wolves fan. I do not want Monte caught in the mess of this franchise.
Despite it being close to "home" for Monte', he would be in a no win situation. Beyond the generally poorly run organization he would be another point guard on the roster with Tyus. Jones is a home town kid who can do no wrong. Monte' would be perceived as the guy who couldn't measure up to Tyus or the guy who was unfairly taking minutes away from him. It would be a no win situation for Monte'.

Only way we could/would bring Monte in is if Tyus gets moved. I was surprised to hear Tyus' name thrown around in some rumors these past few weeks. As you mentioned, dude is a home town kid and everyone LOVES him. I, as a person who didn't grow up in Minnesota and hated Duke, was very much on the opposite side. Thought he was a complete liability on the floor his first year and a half. He did make some solid strides last year, I thought, to be a servicable PG2. But I digress.

Minnesotans love Minnesotans, every Minnesota Professional team has a native Minnesotan on it. Tyus is the Timberwolves' guy. I think we could get a decent piece if he is included in a trade, and wouldn't be upset by it, but I do not think it's happening.

I'd love to see Monte in a T-Wolves black Uni, but for his sake, I think Denver is a solid spot at this point in his career.

I don't disagree with anything you said, however just like the rebound boyfriend, it isn't going to work following Tyus either. Tyus' legend will grow with him being gone and no matter what Monte' does they will say Tyus could have done it better.

Minnesotans can shove their Minnesotans they try to force down my throat. All except Adam Theilen, of course.

but yeah, you're probably right.

which is sad because the Twolves lack a pg that can efficiently feed the ball to Towns in the post and can hit Wiggins while open. Monte could actually solve both of those issues plus he wouldn't turn over the ball over as much as rose, jones, and teague. Knowing Thibs though he would never play Monte.

That's fair. I think he's a surefire annual All-Star and always on the fringe of the discussion for the All-NBA teams. Which is great if he's the second or third best guy on a team. But apparently that's not what he wants. Although to be honest, I'm not clear on what he wants. I'm not sure he could settle for being a complemetary player to a superstar, and I'm not sure if he wants to be the face of a franchise either.

What about Phoenix as a potential destination for Butler? Sarver wants to move into win-now mode. Something like Butler and Tyus Jones for TJ Warren (solid but unspectacular starter), Mikal Bridges (prospect), and Darrell Arthur (expiring that would allow the salaries to match). Thibs maybe survives and starts a mini-rebuild around KAT, Wiggins, and Bridges. And Phoenix can maybe contend for a playoff spot in the West.

To be fair I was surprised in Jones' stats when I looked them up. On his career he has averaged 6.3 assists and 1.7 turnovers per 36 minutes. The 6.3 might be a little low however the 3.7 a/to ratio is great. His shooting averages of .341 3pt and .473 2pt leave a little to be desired. He has brought them up this last year to .349 and .528 on the season though.

I would guess most of those numbers are against opponents' second team units. He strikes me as a solid player and a decent stopgap PG for a team in transition or dealing with an injury to their starter, but he's not a longterm answer for anyone.

Right but we are currently comparing him to Monte' who isn't projected as the starter for a team either...

Butler is a cancer and the TWolves should just take what the Heat are offering because it doesn't appear that any other team is interested.

wish I had time to find the thread where a whole bunch of CFers were bashing Fred for not being able to handle Jimmy, and how Jimmy would be SOOO great at Minnesota, yada yada

Based on what I read this morning I wish Towns had punched Butler right in the face yesterday. Butler is a cancer and Thibs is stuck in a rut with no idea how to coach/manage this team. Apparently during Butlers temper tantrum with third stringers Thibs said nothing and then Butler stormed off for his prearranged ESPN interview. Season hasn't even started and it's spiraling out of control. I think the whole "show up at practice and have a profane outburst and storm off" was just theater to set up the ESPN thingie. Bulters a POS and so is Thibs.

Wolves are ******. They need to get rid of Thibs but would owe him a freakin' ton of buyout. They should probably just disband the franchise. Every experiment over the years has ended in a big fail.

Hey, at least Wiggins is locked up on a max deal. If you like breathtaking athleticism, inefficient scoring, disappointing defense, and bewilderingly poor rebounding numbers then he's your guy.

Wiggins is an unmotivated underachieving check casher. That don't mean Bulter isn't a POS.
