Survivor 50

I'm struggling with "In the Hands of the Fans" aspect of all this. They say they let the fans vote and this is what they chose. Supposedly the fans voted for a lot of twists. Twists are fine but it just seems like they used this as an excuse to do a bunch of bat **** crazy stuff they dreamed up over the last 25 years and see what sticks.

Originally there were no idols. Then they were told where to look for idols. Then they started leaving them around for you to just find if you were looking. Then you had to do some task that inevitably reveals you have an idol. Now you have to just be given an idol?

All the twists are to powerful. Devens gets immunity two weeks in a row on a coin flip, Cirie gets immunity without competing, Christian has to vote for himself and tell everyone he's doing so. Now Johnathon gets immunity, two votes, and free reign to bounce between groups. This was an interesting set of circumstances but just to much power. Give him immunity and vote in both tribal councils but he only gets to switch groups once and limit the amount of time he has. You get 2 hours total to spend how you want but you can only switch groups once.

And again they take a large group and split it "to make it more dangerous". I'd rather see them organize 9 people to a vote than 5 people, and 5 people. Do you know when they have to organize 5 people to a vote? WHEN THERE ARE 5 PEOPLE LEFT IN THE GAME.

Whew I feel better now. Thank you survivor therapy.

dang it ozzy they all basically gave you the play it stare

I never trust how they edit those tribals. They made it look like they gave the play it stare and it could have been the players looking at someone talking.

With that being said, Rizzo may be annoying, may be horrible at challenges, but might be as good of a social navigator as any guy we have seen in survivor. It may be recency bias, but he is not a dumb player. Annoying? Sure. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up winning or close to winning.

Nah. He's lucky he's this far because no one on this season has seen him play. They have no idea what he was like. He'd be gone already if they'd all seen his season.

Dangit Ozzy! He probably was not going to win this season even if he had played his idol but dang dude going home again with another idol in your pocket has got to be eating him up. I wonder if Rizo will be in the doghouse with Cirie over that vote too.

Glad to see Emily go, she gets on my nerves at times. Funny how bo one here even mentioned her which is more evidence how no one cares about her being in the game too. Aubry kinda has the same effect on me too.

Devens and Cirie are 2 big threats to win if people don't get serious about voting them.out soon. Allowing Rizo to keep holding his idol.is also dumb for anyone left too. Make him play it and put some heat on Cirie and Devens too. I hope they don't put an idol back into play. Trying to remember who sent Ozzy his boomerang idol, was that Aubry or someone that was already voted out?

*edit: Genevieve sent him the idol.

Exactly. Takes 1 more ally away from Devens in the process too. Johnathan and Joe's best move now that Ozzy is out us to align with Cirie and unfortunately Rizo and find a path to vote out Devens and Aubry next. If Devens makes it to final 3 I think he wins the whole damn thing. Hes got the best case for the jury "I literally put my fate in the game on a coin flip for $2 mil dollars." Hes successful played both a fake and real idol as well. Cirie would have the next best case if she made it to the end as she's manipulated several votes this season.

I don't know how much traction the "I put my fate on the line for a coin flip" really gets him. He literally said himself a 50/50 chance is better than a 1 in 6 chance. I actually like Devens, but I wouldn't give him much credit for that. He took the better mathematical option.

I think it will win him some jury votes. No one else volunteered to put their fate in a coin flip. He was likely going home if they went to a vote and instead they let him have a shot at basically winning immunity for 2 votes with a coin flip. That's a pretty big move I think.

Looking at how is left it will be interesting to see where the votes fall next tribal. I think Devens needs to either win immunity or find an idol to survive at this point as Aubry is pretty much his only ally. However, I could see Johnathan and Joe essentially having to use him as a number for now too to stay alive as well. You basically have Joe and Johnathan, Cirie and Rizzo, Devens and Aubry and Tiffany is kind of just floats really but us kinda aligned with Cirie some too? I think Joe is playing a really stupid game at this point. I like him but dude has no moves at this point and lacking a social game to win. Johnathan needs him though to keep making moves at this point.

I kind of hope Cirie is pissed at Rizo for letting Ozzy get voted out and aligns up with someone else. Rizo kind of had a nice secret alliance with Ozzy and Cirie that no one was really aware of so that hopefully bites him.

i just do not understand how when you're down to under 10 left, you're in basically a final 5 situation at tribal, you have an idol and you KNOW you were a target last week...why you don't play it. Unreal.

It seems like since his first season Ozzy has always felt entitled to go to the end. He appears to truly believe he's better than everyone else and how could anyone possibly vote him out?

And then he gets blindsided (only to him as everyone else is thinking about it) and puts on his poor me/martyr act on his way out.

I'm sure he'll pull his same **** on the jury too.

Him and Stephanie were so likable in their first seasons. Then of course are brought back many times and seem to get less likable each time.

I can see that but I took his reaction more of an "I can't believe I just went home again with an idol in my pocket!" He trusts people too much and he got duped into a blindside. That is probably going to haunt him for a while as I doubt he will be back to play again. It was pretty apparent that he Cirie and Rizo were in an alliance and Rizo did him dirty by not tipping him off that his name was coming up for the vote that night. That is either going to be a great move for Rizo or come back to bite him in the ass as Cirie was definately trying to get the message over to the other beach that Ozzy needed to play his idol to keep their 3 person alliance intact. It was a great move by the players that pulled it off, Ozzy was a big threat to win if he made it to the end. He is one of my favorite all-time players in the show's history so I was hoping he would make it to the end.

Stephanie is a different case. She definitely comes off as entitled and it's been that way since her first season. She was the last 1 standing on the worst tribe in Survivor history then got upset when they voted her out like 2 votes later after she merged with the other tribe. I'd bet her overall record in team challenges is not good and that's not all on her I guess but it's also the hand you are dealt playing the game and you either overcome it or you sulk over your bad luck. Her biggest flaw is when the target gets put on her she panics and goes into defense mode instead of keeping a calm head about it and trying to find a path forward to move the vote off her. Even the tribal she got voted out she played right into Devens game and got flustered about being called out on targeting Ozzy with the vote. It was Johnathan's idea but she could have just said "yeah I agreed to vote Ozzy but I was not the one that came up with that plan it was Johnathan." Instead she fell on the sword for him and looked panicked in the process. Not saying that would have saved her but it may have opened up some conversations to shift the vote had she played it that way.

It never ceases to amaze me regardless of season.... How someone is an obvious and clear threat (and everyone knows it), yet they don't vote them out when the opportunity presents itself. Just incredible.

Yup, too many times people get nervous that if they try to flush out an idol they will be the one going home instead. Then it gets late into the game and that idol winds up getting someone into the final 4 or 3 because they use that plus win one of the last immunity challenges. Last week with the split tribals would have been the perfect time to get all the idols flushed at once had they played it right. I don't get why trying to call someone's bluff that has an idol is as complicated as they make it. You get everyone onboard with telling those people you better use your idol this vote because we are going to put the votes on you. Even if you don't intend to vote them out at least get them nervous enough to think they need to play it. Seemed like in earlier seasons if you had an idol players were better about flushing them out when they knew someone had one or better yet not telling anyone they found one to make it more effective when they used it. Now idols seem like they are common knowledge so people complicate the crap out of votes worried about going home if that person plays it and sends them home with a single vote.

I won't argue with you that Rizo did him dirty but Ozzy was trying to gather a jury vote from Aubrey before he voting her off and in the process spilled way too much. And she even saw right through it. As Rizo said after the vote, "You talked too much."

IMO Rizo is cooked anyway but I can't blame him for cutting Ozzy loose there. He was a target last vote and was going to continue to be. You can't be connected with someone like that and last long.

Yeah the scene with Aubry was a bad move. I wouldn't say Rizo is cooked either and this is coming from someone that couldn't stand him last season either. I hope he is cooked but just like last season people are scared to vote him because of the idol and it's working again. Had his season aired before them filmed 50 he probably would be gone by now and they sure as hell would of made him play the idol by now too knowing how he played the 1st time. That's a big advantage of playing back to back seasons. Russell Hantz did the same thing and made it to final tribal in back to back seasons which he would not have if everyone say him play the 1st time.

For Rizo, Ozzy was a good shield which is another reason I think Cirie worked with him too. You want everyone focused on a player like Ozzy so you can work your game in the background and keep the attention off what you are doing. As Cirie always says "any name that its not mine is fine with me!" We'll see if blindsiding your shield when he did was a good move or not. Like I laid out there basically are 3 pairs working together and 1 outlier which is Tiff. Either someone is going to have to betray their #1 they are working with or 2 pairs are going to have to work with Tiff on this next vote to break up 1 of the pairs. Devens and Aubry are unpredictable and not scared of chaos so you'd think they would be the next targets. My fear is you had Devens play an idol and Ozzy go home with his that 1 or 2 idols gets put back in play again and someone like Devens finds it and it complicates things with 2 of the remaining 7 left having idols they could play plus possibly a 3rd person that wins immunity challenge. This far into the game with these good players I want to see the strategy play out and make every vote going forward a tough vote when everyone but 1 player is in play to be voted out.

Nobody's even tried and they had her if they wanted her.
Her name has come up a few times but she has done such a great job being the hub for information with practically everyone this season she's been able to manipulate the votes to her benefit and never be in real danger of being voted off. I've never been much of a fan of hers in past seasons and I really wish she wasn't cast for this season for as much as she's played already, but she has played this season about as well as she possibly could up to this point and if she is in the top 3 she is going to have a good case for the jury. Just look at the time she was sent to exile island then came back and immediately got everyone to change their vote after missing out on all the conversations while she was out there. That was pure mastery of working the social game in your favor. I suspect someone finally catches onto the game is playing and tries to get her out soon. If she makes final 4 she probably would have a tough time winning a fire challenge as she doesn't really help much at camp that we have seen.

I think the last sentence is the key. Nobody views her as a threat to win immunity or make fire.
