NBA: Summer 2018 Off Season Thread

Good year to tank, aside from the lottery odds revisions coming next year. Use the rest of the cap space to try to extort draft picks from teams looking to dump salary.

The Bulls, making the smart long-term plays? I can't believe it.

Do you expect anything different? Front office in Chicago is terrible. Fred is going to get fired before too long, and won't ever have had players to fit his preferred style of play.
Hoiberg has two years left on his five year deal with Chicago. I could see them keeping him this year and next then moving on without him.

Fired, or not brought back, still sucks he never got a fair shake. I'm way past him leaving Iowa State, but going to work for GarPax still baffles, even with the friendship thing.

Since we're talking about the T'Wolves again, you should go check out this thread from last year:

I waited all year to be decisively proven wrong on my Gary Harris is better than Andrew Wiggins take, and instead had to settle for watching Wiggins decline statistically almost across the board, put up only 2.1 win shares, while Harris put up a career best 5.5 win shares. But I'm sure he'll get better once his max deal kicks in this year.

Yeah it was a rough year for Wiggins. He did get a little better in team defense but his offensive numbers were worse. I am not losing hope on him yet though!

Watched some Summer League and so far I have to say Trae Young and Bagley don't look the part. Young is still putting shots up like it was the first half of last year. The other night I saw him take two deep threes off a pick and roll and airball both of them. I think they're going to have to figure out ways to get him open off screens, because I don't think he has what it takes off the dribble.

As for Bagley, you can tell he's a dude that's gotten by on being bigger than everyone. His footwork is awful.

Bagley is supposed to be one of the best athletes in the draft. Give him some time

Bagley had a really good first game. I think he will be fine. Young I am not so sure about.

Bagley did have a good first game and struggled in the second, much like a lot of rookies.
Young hasn't shot well but has been getting open to shoot, passing well and penetrating to the rim just fine. He will need a little time to adjust to the size/speed but I won't be giving up hope he'll be a good player after 3 games.

We have to remember that these rookies are being thrown in to games 2 weeks after being drafted and playing against players that have played and practiced together last year in the G-League and in the off season. A leaning curve shouldn't be unexpected.

Future Laker for sure.

LA should be a soft landing spot for Melo with their need of shooters, has a home there and a great relationship with Bron. Don't count out Houston either... They were heavily linked to him last year and have his buddy CP3.

I am curious if Wade stays with the Heat (likely) or joins one of his Banana Boat Bro's in LA/Houston too.

This is a bit surprising.... could help the Spurs to bring back Kawhi into the fold. It was rumored Parker and Ginobli public critiques of him not playing wire part of the rift.

@wojespn Tony Parker has agreed to a two-year, $10M deal with Charlotte, league source tells ESPN

Going to have to add Parker to the list of guys who look weird in a different team's jersey ie Scottie Pippen and the Blazers.

Good news for Monte considering the Nuggets were the other team rumored to be in on Parker.
