Tiller isn't surprising. I heard he had summer classes to get his grades up as he was academically ineligible all of second semester. It's too bad he's wasting such a great opportunity to get an education for free. Hopefully he gets it straightened out and in order.
 
Jerome Tiller is FAR from being a dumb guy. I called him an idiot because he knows better.

I wonder if this QB battle was just really stressful on him and he put all his energy into only this and his grades slipped because of it?

I just wanted to say that Jerome is one of the last guys I would have thought would be academically ineligible. Now Jennert, that's a different story.

Steele Jantz has been named the Iowa State starting quarterback. Cyclone head coach Paul Rhoads made the announcement after a scrimmage on Saturday.

Quarterback Jerome Tiller, who entered camp No. 1 on the depth chart, is academically ineligible for the 2011 season. Redshirt freshman Jared Barnett will be the backup quarterback.

Tiller will spend the 2011 season getting his academics in order while practicing with the scout team, Rhoads said. Rhoads also wouldn’t rule out a position change for Tiller.

Wide receiver Donnie Jennert is also academically ineligible for this season.

Correct. Barnett WILL see plenty of snaps. There's no way that Steele gets all the snaps this year... even if he is fully healthy IMO. We will see plenty of Barnett. Which could be good? He needs some game action for experience.

Alex Espinoza just said he thought Steele was the better QB since we are bringing up old QB's.

Go out to the ISU web site. CPR said Steele was clearly #1 even before the new about Tiller. Donnie Jennert is academically ineligible too.
