Stay hydrated, people!!!

I went running at 9:30 last night. It was 82 degrees on the sign at the bank. WOWSERS!!!! I absolutely love Iowa in the summer at night but it sucks during the day!

God strike me dead for saying this, 'cause I'm as big a lawn-nazi as anyone and I'll surely regret it in a month - but the one good thing about the heat is that it may slow the grass down a bit.

This mowing every 4th/5th day is getting pretty flippin' old.

Tell me about it. I don't think I'll be able to make any deposites to my compost pile until August. I have a mountain of grass clippings that is overflowing its pen.

I love the heat. Love to get out there and just sweat and be hot. I hate winter. Never complain about the heat.

When we did mission trips to Appalachia where it was 95 and more humid than here, we always did the gallon challange where you had to drink a gallon of water between the times of 9-4.

When I built grain bins it was not uncommon to drink well over a gallon of water and not even go potty, you're sweating so much. And yes, I said potty.

I worked summer maintenance for Parks & Rec while in college. When it would get like this, we coudn't pack enough water to keep at our work site. A gallon was pretty easy to get through - and like you said, rather likely that none of it to get to the far end of the plumbing.

Did I hear correctly that the fella from Ankeny(?) did his charity thing down at Principal Park yesterday - hit 5000 softballs in 24 hours. Sunday into Monday? In this heat?

Holy ****!

So he was successful?

The humidity at our house does wonders for our growing grass. I think it won't stop growing until maybe November.

So he was successful?

I don't know - I'm guessing so.

I didn't see the report.... was told about it. Apparently they had to tape the bat to his hands and he appeared almost "drunk" with fatigue.

With the past two days weather, pretty easy to believe that...

Good for him, I would've wussed out and reschuduled if I saw that forecast.

So he was successful?

yes in multiple ways...but he had to go indoors to finish. He did raise the money :) props to him

But also showed the world what softball guy looks like....I enjoyed the before and after Before, tv camera on him, trying to kill every pitch....after bat duck-taped to his hand struggling.

I roof houses in the summer. Yesterday, we worked 7am - 1pm and 4pm-8pm. I have never sweated so much in my life. Today we worked 7am - 11am and then again tonight from 5pm till whenever. Very agonizing and frustrating when you can't stop dripping sweat and there's no shade on the roof.

Yeah I saw him on the news at the start. My comment was, if he is swinging for a HR on every pitch, he is going to die.
