The way I look at it, Joey Ramos could be a really good LT.

Treiber, on the other hand, has a chance to be a great LT. Matter of fact, one of the best LT’s I’ve seen at ISU—since Karl Nelson.

Of course, for all I know CMC and Jeff Myers will start him out on the right side just because. And for our two young lefty QB’s, the right side is the blind side anyway, right?
Ah that makes sense, I was looking at that depth chart and thought they mixed up the LT and RT.

LT Treiber/Remsburg
LG Downing/Hufford
C Newell/Schweiger
RG Hudson/Simmons
RT Ramos/Foster

I didn't realize that we have 19 underclassmen on the o-line, including walk-ons. 12 of them are scholarship players. There are only 5 upperclassmen, with just 2 of them being on scholarship I think. Unless Schweiger is on scholarship. He was not the last I knew.

Uh, what? “his lack of development”?

CMC just said that Ross is healthy for the first time since blowing his knee out and missing his senior year in HS.

And Trevor Downing did well last season as a RS freshman, he likes the current RS FR, so it kinda sounds like you’re manufacturing reasons to worry.
I actually forgot about Ross's injury.

My prediction for the O-line:

LT Sean Foster
LG Trevor Downing
C Colin Newell
RG Derek Schweiger
RT Joey Ramos

For the record, Jay Jordan last night mentioned 7 O-linemen in his quick rundown. These 5 plus Hudson and Treiber.

I don't think this is an "Oh, I guess we play these guys because we can't play anyone else" situation. Some guys come into their own early (Scheiger, Ramos, Newell). Others come into their own a little later (Foster).

We may have had some better individuals on the line in previous years, but not necessarily better lines. I think we are going to have the best O-line "unit" of the Campbell era.

Hufford would be my guess for number 8. Simmons is a guy that was mentioned as a future center where we already have 2 RJRs so he may be the future. It will be interesting to see if Remsburg or Miller would be our 4th OT if the need arose.

I’d guess that Simmons would be Downing’s backup at LG this season, with Anthony Smith perhaps that “future center”.

And don’t forget that Zach Ross is finally healthy.
