I’m setting my expectations a bit lower. The casting is not overly impressive and is very reminiscent of what you would see on AMC or FX. I don’t think it’s bad casting, but its definitely not on the scale that HBO has been putting together lately. This is likely (or hopefully) due to the special effects budget.
I’m also expecting a slow burn at times: not every episode can have a space battle or large-scale shoot-out. I think this needs to be compared to a show like Netflix’s Daredevil S1.
Right! I mean, if only they could have gotten an actor from one of HBO's flagship shows that was one of the most popular and charismatic characters on the show to play the Mandalorian. Oh... wait...

I get the appeal of Pedro Pascal and he’s poised to have a big year in 2020 as his role for Wonder Woman 1984 was just announced as well, but I was mainly talking about the supporting cast. Pascal, while charming, is not the caliber of actor to draw in viewers like Sean Bean was for the premier of GoT, Anthony Hopkins in Westworld, Stellan Skarsgård in Chernobyl or Jeremy Irons in Watchmen. The casting of Carl Weathers and Gina Carano doesn’t wow me, but I at least know who they are. Giancarlo Esposito is a solid addition though.

Do you really think they need a huge A list actor to draw people in? Its Star Wars, and the talent surrounding the show is outstanding. And Pedro is a superstar in the making. I think you are looking for something to be concerned about. Time will tell, but I bet it's a smash hit.

I’m not expecting this series to be bad; I’m really hoping it’s great. I’m just not expecting cinema-level quality in each episode. The cast is definitely lacking a “marquee” actor to sell the show, but that will be a moot point if the series can do what Rogue One did. There are some great directors lined up and the Star Wars name will make the premier, and launch of Disney+, one of the largest streaming events of all-time. I guess I’m going into it with baited breath and if the premier is awesome then I’ll be blown away.

Pedro Pascal is as good as it gets IMO. He's fantastic. It'll be way better than Daredevil, and I was a big fan of that show. I still couldn't tell you the name of anybody in Daredevil and there are a lot of names in this show.

Plus I just don't think star power matters in this show. The world of Star Wars doesn't need IP the same way that Game of Thrones before the premier needs it. They need to put together the best cast possible and I think they've probably done that.

Seeing every single Star Wars movie available in 4K was a pleasant surprise for me to see on Disney+. I didn't realize they were going to do that and it's only available on the streaming service as of right now. Shoot, they don't even have 4K home release available yet for many of the more modern ones like The Force Awakens or Rogue One.

Has anyone watched episode #1 of The Mandalorian yet? If so, thoughts??? I'm waiting for them to compile a bit before I binge through them myself.

In anticipation for Rise of Skywalker, I re-watched both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi over the past few nights. My re-watch takeaways for those movies were the following. I've always just decently liked The Force Awakens and with every subsequent re-watch, it remains steadily in that category. It isn't my favorite Star Wars movie, but it isn't my least favorite either. There is plenty for me to like there. As for The Last Jedi, I didn't particularly like that movie after my first watch of it, but after my second watch after getting the 4K Blu Ray, I liked it slightly better, but still didn't really like it. However, after this most recent re-watch of it, I found the movie to be insufferably terrible to the point where I think from here on out, every subsequent re-watch will only get worse and worse. We truly are left in such a whole that I'm not sure it is possible for JJ to did us out of it. I guess we will see. I don't hate Rian Johnson as a director, but I'm 100% still convinced I want him nowhere near writing another Star Wars movie. He clearly doesn't get it. However, I'd love to see him continue to make other original movies of his own, and I'll go check them out. Can't wait to see Knives Out after all the rave reviews.

Funny, I like The Last Jedi better than The Force Awakens and it is one of my favorite of the movies.

Social Media Reactions are out for The Rise of Skywalker. Very interesting as most seem pretty positive, but regardless of thoughts, apparently everyone says there is a lot to this movie to take in. Overall, this movie is going to be really hard to judge fully from these reactions as one needs to remember that The Last Jedi had positive critical acclaim, even though the general audience mostly did not like the film. Then, to add to this, there is many hints from these reactions that this movie is a big departure from what we saw in TLJ. I think this quote probably sums it up best: "It felt like an apology for The Last Jedi in some ways and a sequel to The Force Awakens in many, which I found frustrating.'' To me, a quote like that sounds fantastic, but for all the TLJ lovers out there, which there is a decent contingency of them, they will likely hate hearing stuff like that.

The Last Jedi wasn't just one of the worst Star Wars movies. it was one of the worst movies of any genre, period. I might go see RoS in the theatres, but most likely will just Netflix it when the Blu-Ray is released. I think I'm over the Star Wars experience, which is pretty sad.

That's just factually inaccurate.

The Last Jedi just ignored the direction that was set up in the Force Awakens. When Abrams was signed on to do the Rise of Skywalker, I assumed that he would try and continue with his vision as opposed to Rian Johnson.

Overall, LucasFilm has kind of botched this trilogy with a lack of story continuity with this trilogy.

Boldly stated. It's my opinion, and I have a hard time believing that you know my opinion better than I do. So I have to ask, are you connected to my head or something? Am I in the Matrix?
You may ask, but I do not have to tell you. I will say, you need to start washing your hands after pooping though. The "wipe and run" technique you have been using recently is disturbing and disgusting.

Easy people. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I love hearing everyone's diverse thoughts whether that be in this case that TLJ is the best movie ever made or TLJ is the biggest piece of garbage made.

I'll agree with this to an extent. I think they came in with a beginning and an end. Here's Rey, here's where she needs to be by the third film. I think they messed up giving free reign to the directors. I personally really enjoy the Last Jedi, but stylistically, it's so jarringly different. It's essentially a Western, both in plot, and in filming style.

I would have liked to have seen what Rian could have done with his own trilogy instead of the middle piece of a pretty important puzzle for the Star Wars Cinematic Universe.

I'm not a big fan of the sequel trilogy, however it's better than what Lucas would have given us:

“[The next three Star Wars films] were going to get into a microbiotic world. But there’s this world of creatures that operate differently than we do. I call them the Whills. And the Whills are the ones who actually control the universe. They feed off the Force… If I’d held onto the company I could have done it, and then it would have been done. Of course, a lot of the fans would have hated it, just like they did Phantom Menace and everything, but at least the whole story from beginning to end would be told.”
