Salt + Smoke is one of my favorite restaurants- used to have family in StL.
If you have kids (or you are a kid at heart) the City Museum is awesome.. it’s a giant jungle gym basically.
It’s cliche but the Arch and related park are pretty cool to do once.

The City Museum is seriously one of the best places to take a kid in the entire country.
East St. Louis makes Gary, Indiana sound enticing

-Fried Ravioli is the main St. Louis "delicacy"
-Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard - an STL staple
-Venice Cafe by the Brewery
-Deli's: Blue's City or Carl's. Gioias has a great hot salami sandwich tho.
-Louie (Italian)
-Rooster (breakfast)
-Pappy's and Salt 'n Smoke for bbq (Pappy's is the touristy one, good experience)
-Katie's Pizza
-Nathaniel Reed Bakery
-Downtown St Charles - Prasino's for dinner (places to drink too)
Places to drink:
-360 Rooftop (best views of Downtown STL - inside Hilton St Louis at the Ballpark)
-Ballpark Village (same corporate bars as P&L, but its a large gathering spot)
-Soulard Neighborhood - ton of neighborhood pubs and beer gardens. (recommend "Chapter 3" specifically)
-Central West End - Neighborhood dive bars and they have an "Up Down" like DM East Village
-Delmar Loop - Lot of Bars near Wash U
-The Grove (Manchester Ave) - Gay bars and outdoor drinking establishments
-The Pitch Athletic Club & Tavern (soccer bar with a cool European vibe -- near Union Station)
-Schafly Tap Room (near the soccer stadium)
Outside St. Louis (along the way):
-Hannibal, MO is home of Mark Twain
-Abraham Lincoln National Historic Site, Museum and Burial Site in Springfield, Illinois
Other advice:
-South City is generally where St Louis culture and best establishments are located. (Generally south of I-64 and east of Hampton Ave) far beyond the recommendations here. These are very old and very well preserved neighborhoods (The Hill, Tower Grove, Soulard, Fox Park) where you can just wander for a day and find local hole-in-the-wall places.
-Downtown is very dull, everyone knows this. If you only drink at Ballpark Village and around the arena, you're going to think St. Louis sucks. If you can't have fun this weekend outside of games, that's mostly on you.
-Take the train when you can. Its fairly frequent, safe, and connects Downtown to the airport with most destinations along it.
-AirBnBs in Soulard and Tower Grove are often a steal and fairly close to Downtown.
-St. Louis has a ton of wealth and a ton of poverty. Its kind of insane to see how close the two can be to each other as well. St. Louis is generally safe, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend going north of Downtown (Delmar is usually the dividing line). During the day its all fine, but if you're drinking and what not, stick to my advice above.

Fast Eddie's Bon Air is a blast, a touch out of the way in Alton Illinois tho.
I'll add Mama's on the hill as a great Italian restaurant. It's our favorite. Tried their meatball challenge once. Good, but took a lot back to the hotel.
The Iowa State Alumni Association is having a pregame party on Friday at the Tin Roof, 1000 Clark Ave, roughly four blocks from the Enterprise Center. The bar opens at 10:00am.
Saint Louis the farthest west eastern city, Kansas City is the farthest east western city.
Sounds about right. St Louis very much has a row house/rust belt kind of feel you don't see in KC but would find out east.
And Minneapolis is kinda neither (but more like KC).
