Spain Trip

Agreed, he really needs to show a jumper to have a shot in the league. If you're a big guy in the NBA right now, you need to be able to protect the rim or be able to space the floor. McKay hasn't shown the ability to knock down jumpers yet and I don't think he has the size to get minutes on his defense alone. But he still has another year, so maybe he shows a much more well rounded offensive game this year.

COrey Brewer
Tony Allen
MOntrez Harrell

I'll stop now.

edit: PLUS McKay blocks shots.

McKay is fun to watch and a good college player, but based on last year, IMO he is in no way an NBA player.

Sure, you can say all that, and it might come true.

On the flip side, freaking Scot Pollard was an NBA player for ten years. Dude had much less offensive ability than Jameel McKay does, and I think McKay will be a much better shot blocker.

I won't say he has no shot, but it's a completely different era than when Scott Pollard played. With the influx of foreign players, I don't think Fred Hoiberg would play in the NBA for 10 years in this era for instance.

So two guys who are elite rebounders, two 7 footers, two elite wing defenders (although Brewer's defensive reputation is much better than his actual defense at this point), Noah who is both an elite passer and elite defender and Montrez Harrell.

McKay's a good rebounder, but certainly not close to the level of Evans or Faried. He's undersized to play the five, and got pushed around at times in B12 play, definitely didn't see Harrell ever getting pushed around last year. So he's a guy with the size of a four and the offensive game of a five, I don't think he's ever going to be big enough to guard a lot of Centers, so like I said it's going to come down to him showing more of an all-around offensive game and better jump shot. Sounds like he's been working on it too, would be great for him if he was able to add that to his game.

I bet you can make a really long list of guys in the D-League who aren't good jump shooters.

Hoiberg would definitely have a place in today's NBA game. Knock down shooters who can space the floor are a valuable commodity.

Agreed - Hoiberg would have played for 15 years

@TravisHines21: Prohm was asked about Jameel McKay's post-loss run of critical tweets. Didn't really address it directly. McKay wasn't available today.

I must have missed these tweets because I don't know what Hines is talking about here. Can someone update me?

It was some crap about being upset about the lose. Pretty vague stuff. When I first read it, I figured that he was ****** about losing and that he was probably overly tired. McKay was tweeting at all hours of hte night when he first got over there, so I'm guessing he was tired and crabby. I also got the feeling he wasn't overly excited about being in Spain in the first place.

So at first I didn't think it was a big deal. But CW was pretty worked up about it on the radio the next day, so that made me think that his sources--TJ or whoever--had told him that McKay is generally unhappy with the new coaching staff.

Well that is just a giant jump to a strange conclusion.

Well, he was very worked up about it. I figure there was a reason he was. I'm not sure why anyone would get all that worked up about those particular tweets without a bigger reason.

It's jsb... it's what she does.

I'm not the one that said on the radio that those tweets were a bad sign.

Like I said, I read them. Thought that they were crabby and not good, but I didn't think they were a huge deal, considering the circumstances. Chris thought that they were a big enough deal to mention on the radio. And obviously he wasn't the only one because someone asked about it today. Which means it was probably a bigger deal than I thought.

Not going to go back and look but the one that sticks out to me went something along the lines "There is no I in team but it seems like out here it's every man for himself." Or something like that.

I remember the show and he was saying people should stop worrying about McKay going anywhere. He isn't going anywhere.

A quick Twitter search on mentions that day showed people were tweeting Chris worried if McKay was unhappy and if the trip was going bad.

Crap like that is what Chris gets every time a player makes a strange tweet.

I KNOW he said that the tweets were a worse sign than the loss and that they weren't good. Maybe he meant because people would take them the wrong way?

Like I said, when I initially read the tweets I thought Jameel's ****** about the game, but figured that he was probably crabby and tired because of his other tweets talking about being up at 3 AM and stuff.

And I haven't said a word about the stupid tweets until today when someone thought that they were a big enough deal to ask about. It just does make me think that there's something more to them than being tired and crabby.

McKay was quoting the new Future album "Dirty Sprite 2" while he was in Europe! I think we should all be a little worried....

The thought you jumped to from crabby tweets... that you yourself initially took as just being tired and crabby.... went to Jameel being "generally unhappy with the coaching staff".

That is what I was referring too.

Sounds plausible. The Wednesday wind sprints are not universally enjoyed.
